You're a fucking retard if you don't know what Linux started out as. A text based OS!

Linux is still a text based operating system!

He is probably wanting some desktop interface like KDE or Gnome, which I think would be totally different from converting linux to the Wii, let alone if the Wii could even support them.

if you read the title it said "ubuntu" in it

its also called "ubuntu linux"

If you read the first reply in this thread - it said "Linux yes, ubuntu no"...

what sort of linux???not that crappy text based shit i hope

And this comment shows that you have 100% no idea whatsoever about linux. So please stop.

But since I don't want to post a reply without real content:
Check http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Linux and http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=9322 if you think you know what you are talking about...

lol do you even know what KDE and Gnome is lol, and yes it is possible anything is possible, It might HIGHLY improbable but still possible

lol 2 resons for using linux
1: TERMINAL!! *sighs with text based goodness.....**has dreamy look on his face*
2:COMPIZ!! *sighs with wobbly window goodness.....**has yet another dreamy look on his face*

Might as well ask if we could get Mac OS9 running on Wii. The point isn't to have a visually appealing OS, it's to have a method of utilizing the hardware for other things. The OS is pointless on a thing like the Wii - meaning you want to keep the OS interface as minimal as possible. This means command line.

well im not with code type text base linux cause its hard to use i have it on my wii and my ds but i still have no idea how to get it running anything

Aye , mini laptop's run linux.
Those i think only have 64mb ram as well.

The problem is that they need the video stuff to work it isnt like windows driver the whole server needs to be stable before you can download and compile your GNOME or KDE envoirement.

Wii has like 94 mb of ram orso and the work on the X server is done you can bet that there will be some kind of Wii distro about

.

^ if you mean the eeePC , MSI Wind and so on, they got alot more RAM than 64MB.. it's around 512-2048MB RAM (depending on your configuration)..

Wii got 64MB "main" RAM and something like 20-30MB RAM for the graphics (IIRC)

And yeah, i'd like a simple graphical Linux on Wii, but you can still do alot of things with command line
