Dolphin....what?
Lol, all it does is recognize Wii U ISO's. That's the progress we've made to a Wii U emulator.

The CPU and other components will require one helluva computer to emulate full speed.

Especially with all the improvements they've been making the past couple months.Already have a Wii U, Dolphin runs very well on my machine for Wii/GCN though![]()

Really? I can run games about full speed at 2.5x native, but the audio is terrible and sounds canny and the game kinda freezes for like a quarter of a second pretty frequently. Xenoblade Chronicles is the only game I tried.

You have been keeping up right? Using the development versions? Most of the major sound issues have been neutralized as of 4.0-3469, an WIP build. Specs? Using 4.0 or below is not recommended if you have a decent machine. Any of the 4.0-3XXX builds is recommended, given the massive changes Dolphin has had so far.

I picked a specific build to help the Xenoblade HD texture pack work, but removed the texture pack after it caused some issues.
Specs:
8 GB RAM
MSI GeForce GTX 650 1GB (I know, I need to upgrade this)
AMD FX-4100 Quad Core (ditto)
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3

GPU isn't that important, CPU is more vital for emulation as it is more reliant on it, version you're using? It sounds like it's quite outdated, and if you take time to read that blog entry, it mentions that they are rewriting the JIT core and focusing on major speed boosts in overall performance, your CPU will be enough for most games, some require overclock (The Last Story), and the sound code has had a major rewrite, it no longer has the weird stretching audio out issue.

The version I'm using is 4.0-3338. Is this too terribly old?
It seems futile to keep up with the latest build, considering they make changes every couple of hours.
Keep in mind that the only reason I use dolphin is because I heard that it's a waste to play Xenoblade in 480i on my TV.

Right, it's impossible to keep up, but, the most recent builds have had speed changes, please reread the blog entry I linked ya to. This version has been quite fast, the one build I'm using. also in the settings, enable the OpenMP Decoder, as that uses more than two cores.

Oops, didn't see the link. But 40% increase in Xenoblade speed?!?!?! Improvements indeed.

I don't know what caused your poor audio quality, but I played through Xenoblade in its entirety at 2.5x IR and aside from some screen tearing (which I believe was a problem on my end, not Dolphin), it was pretty much perfect. I did, however, run with LLE audio (on it's own core), rather than the HLE, but even the HLE is supposed to be good for that game now.
Of course, my CPU is a pretty beastly i7 4770.
Yeah, I've been following their progress reports each month; they're good reads. I haven't used Dolphin in the past two months, though, so I haven't seen these improvements first-hand. I mainly do LLE because my processor can handle it no problem, and since it's on a separate core, it really doesn't affect performance. It is, HLE has been completely rewritten and LLE is only needed for a handful of games, they started rewriting it last year I believe, but HLE is pretty much on par with LLE; the only games that need it as Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, among a few others. I tested Xenoblade a couple of weeks ago and sounded fine. If you're using the vanilla build (i.e 4.0.2), don't, it's quite outdated, 4.5 is next but in the mean time, 4.0 34xx or whatever they are work fine

I wish I could do that, too bad my CPU is only a Core i5 lol![]()

I wish I had an i5, better than my AMD piece of shit...
