Wii U Stuck on Logo

Hello everyone,

First time poster here. I decided to make this post since I am having issues with my Wii U. Currently, my Wii U will not boot up to the main menu. It stays stuck on the Wii U logo indefinitely.

There are a few things to note about my console. The console is the black 32 gb model. I believe it was bought during the 2012 holiday season (release) as we were expecting to play Pikmin 3 before it got delayed. The system has never been modded in any fashion. It was not the most heavily played console, and I can't even give a good estimate of when it was last used (at least more than 3 years).

I have already tried doing the UDPIH, however it does not seem to be working. When using the second recovery menu, I get a white screen with some blue lines (see attached image). I believe this is similar to what @fadafwet described in his post. I was able to get the logs from the system, which I have attached to this post. Any idea what the issue may be and how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

If it isn't the disc drive I would suspect a shorted powerrail somwhere, but I don't see how that could happen (except for a wrong connected disc drive).
Btw the vias next to the transistor are connected to the pin of the transistor. So if they get shorted to the cable it's not a problem.

Ok I redid the ribbon cable for the disc drive. I had to wait to test it since someone else was using the TV. That seems to have solved that issue, however there is no picture on the TV. I've tried both HDMI and component cables. Also, the gamepad is not connecting to the system. Any ideas of where to go from here?

if theres no image then theres likely something wrong with your soldering, or try a power cycle. a great indication to if its working is if the gamepad turns on.

The gamepad doesn't turn on when the system turns on, and I do think my soldering is fine. I checked the continuity of all the connections. I'll try a power cycle. From what I've read, that is done by holding down the power button for 10 seconds?

How did you prepare the sdcard exactly? How big is it in bytes exactly? Can you try do extract the image of the SD with wfs-extract and see what errors come up?

The SD card is a SanDisk Max Endurance 32 gb sd card, so it should work with my Wii U. I merged all the mlc.bin.part files using copy /b, then I wrote the combined file to the raw SD card using Win32Diskimager, as per your instructions.

Ok I downloaded wfs extract. I'm assuming I run the program from the command line? Also, do I need to run it on the micro SD card in the Wii U or can I run it on the mlc backup I have on my computer as a test? I guess I'll need to take out the card eventually, but I could just test it in the meantime.

I did the extraction, and assuming I did everything right, it looks like everything gave a failed to read error.

Can you check how big the sys folder is, that you extracted?

Can you share the list of errors?


Did you make sure to merge the dump in the right order?

Based on a a couple of other posts, I starting to think it's an issue with the command I gave. The sys folder is around 500 MB big. I want to try again since I really do think there was some kind of mistake. Now it keeps saying I'm missing the seeprom file even though it is present.

Also, if by merging the dump in the right order you mean the mlc.bin files, I absolutely did it in the right order.

you don't need the seeprom form the mlc. You need the --mlc flag, then it won't ask for the seeprom.

But if you got the sys folder out of it, then the command was correct you used for that

my sys folder is around 725MB, so than your dump is maybe to corrupted. Did you get errors that it couldn't dump some folders?

Not yet. That was my next plan. Which part of udpih should I try (coldboot, dump otp and seeprom, etc.)? It'll have to be later today once I get home.
