Misc Wii U Purchases Question?

Are Wii U Purchases still linked to the console or are they now linked to an account? I bought a used wii u with some purchases and would like to have my own account on it. If I do create an account on it, will I be able to redownload the games or do I need the original account on it. Thanks.

It is linked both to a console and your account. If you create a new account the already downloaded games will be still available as long as you keep the previous account on your Wii U.

So I will have to keep the previous account on my wii u? Is there a way to transfer the purchases to my account or will I have to keep the original account?
