This happened to me with my Splatoon copy
I just blowed the disc fissure and never had this error again

To this day I don't understand why it worked but I've seen some people at youtube claiming that they have fixed the problem also doing this

But if the problem is indeed related to the scratches you should try polishing the disc
Toothpaste and a cotton ball might work but if you're hesitant to do it you can find some place that does the job...

you could try to buff it out or re surface. i dont think the resurface machines do the inner part where that code is. Its worth a try.

bump - cuz I have this same freaking problem with Mario kart 8. if I do the Brazilian method, am I able to use the existing save file? I poured hours into the game and its freaking annoying that Nintendos quality is this sucky.

I'm having this issue recently with my modded wii u. It shows a couple of my wii u games as invalid discs despite being able to be played normally in other wii u consoles.

I have one this with disc rot. It still works in one console, but not in my others. I would suggest you dump your games with wudd and install them. Then you don't have to worry about disc rot and failing drives.

Mine is the other way. Tho it is differently. It works normally on other wii u consoles, but not mine (I think because I installed the game digitally before getting the physical disc.) Speaking of, the disc does not even look damaged/scratch. It is clean.

Because this got bumped for I don't know why.

Wii U discs are very susceptible to disc rot! Shine a light on the data side and if you see pin holes on the disc art side, that means the disc is rotting. Dump your own games if they're not afflicted by disc rot while you still can.
