Would downgrading the FW with caffeine be possible?

We just dump the update partition of a game that comes with an early FW and before we insert a game with a higher one we connect the console to a computer through caffeine and make it loading the older FW when it is about to get the update from the disk.
If that would be possible we could downgrade the console or install our custom stuff if we can deal with all the decryptions

No, already tried that :P

Well I only tried to get control through the disc channel, it might be possible to patch it through the system settings. Cafiine couldn't get access to the filesystem for me to break it :<
I see. Can you see an index of the disk's file system or its rlwinm instructions through TCP Gecko when you are somewhere in the menu or in the disk channel?
If this is the case we could probably avoid disk updates by overwriting it in the RAM, or not?

Is it possible with the kernel exploit to install signed system titles?

So we can install every thing from the 3.4 update excluded the webbrowser update.

Ok, just deleted internet connection setting, doesn't the browser exploit require an internet connection or just once?

It does require a local network connection, which the Wii U considers the same thing as an internet connection (as far as I know), but strictly speaking, you don't need internet.

Welp, Ninty just threw a bigass wrench into the works. *sigh* Question: I set up Open DNS a few weeks ago and it's successfully blocking access to eshop and the update servers. Since you can't go online with old fw anyway, what's the point of even keeping Open DNS active at this point? Wouldn't it be best to just delete wifi connection settings for now?

You can go online with an old firmware. I just played a match in Splatoon on 5.3.2. It's getting game updates and eShop that's the problem.

On that note, Marionumber1, realistically, what might be possible with this browser/kernel exploit combo? Would backing up game saves in way that they could be restored in the event of catastrophic system failure (provided you could find another exploitable Wii U) be a possibility? And what of finding some way to update games like Splatoon without updating the firmware, possibly by having someone on a current FW update the game, then copy and distribute the update data?

can't beleive how ungrateful some people are... or rather how privliged they think should be...

here's some guys doing this in their own time openly while people sit around moaning thinking they are entitled to everything.

The way I see it, if you are so desperate for mods, emulators and the rest of it just wait - how long that could be is anyones guess... otherwise update - worst case is they release an exploit for 5.3.2 a few months down the line and you won't have access to it. Just buy a new wii - plenty available on 5.3.2 and sell your old (updated one). In the uk, gumtree and ebay is full of wii with older firmware. You can even transfer all your saves etc before you sell your updated one.

I thought to do a system transfer both systems had to be on the latest firmware?

My primary Wii U finally updated. :toot: (I think, the message was not to remove the disk and that had me scratching my head. Have not actually checked settings)

Kids have been playing Splatoon most of the day on 5.3.2. I wonder how long N will allow you to play online on 5.3.2.

nintendo knows how to catch people onto this new update, one way or another, they will add things that will make people fall and update, like lucas. obviously with the release of lucas almost every wiiuser will go into eshop, making them update
but i'd rather stick to 5.3.2, i'd rather lost a ness clone than the exploit
