Was the WebKit the ONLY thing updated with 5.4.0?

Nintendo sure is keeping a close watch in here it seems. :P
Browser is updated but OSv11 seems to be untouched. More to come.
Everything updated: version.bin, Wii U Menu, System Settings, ErrEula, Wii U Electronic Manual, the thing with app_type_list.txt and title_id_list.txt, HOME Menu, Internet Browser, and the AOC Overlay App

If you want to exploit your Wii U, DO NOT UPDATE TO 5.4.0!

We shouldn't be needing to remind everyone about this again, as far as I remember we told everyone that a new update (it was either 5.3.4 or 5.4.0) would be out in a few months and that you should block updates on your unit.

It's impressive how after so much time working on this and finally getting there yesterday, Nintendo figured out exactly what bug it was and patched it not even 24 hours after. Yes, Nintendo simply updated from 536.28 to 536.30, just enough to patch the bug we are using (go figure which one it is from the ChangeLogs).

At the same time, it doesn't really surprised me, Sony did exactly the same with the 3.3x bug by updating their WebKit source code from 537.73 to 537.73.2 before it was even released.

So, the same day you managed the webkit exploit for 5.3.2 to work, Nintendo released a new firmware update...
Is this exploit the one you have been working or something new? It's so hard to believe that they patched exactly the same exploit even without knowing which was.

Do you guys still want to wait to get the exploit for the new firmware before releasing it? It looks like the possibilities are even shorter.

They patched quite a bit, not just that particular exploit.

Reading this thread again after hearing about the update and all I thought was "SH*T, F*CK, I FORGOT TO DELETE MY WIFI SETTINGS" while at work ;P
Happily my Wii U did not catch any update yet and remains on 5.3.2 E so I have that going for me at least.

I just hate to hear that there wont be anything now around E3 from the Exploit guys... All the time I waited for this, now for nothing? Well... Anyways.

can't beleive how ungrateful some people are... or rather how privliged they think should be...

here's some guys doing this in their own time openly while people sit around moaning thinking they are entitled to everything.

The way I see it, if you are so desperate for mods, emulators and the rest of it just wait - how long that could be is anyones guess... otherwise update - worst case is they release an exploit for 5.3.2 a few months down the line and you won't have access to it. Just buy a new wii - plenty available on 5.3.2 and sell your old (updated one). In the uk, gumtree and ebay is full of wii with older firmware. You can even transfer all your saves etc before you sell your updated one.

So if nearly every bug that was being used was patched, does this mean the team is back to square one? Shame it's such a setback. I'm not really that well-versed in this stuff, but I know enough to realize that it's not easy work. Thanks for all the effort being put into this, guys!

You guys won't release the kernel exploit until you find a new exploit for 5.4.0 right?
I hope not, that would just be ridiculous to set it back for the new update only! if that was the case then they might as well not bother releasing it at all cause updates are always going to happen.

Off as in powered down but still plugged in to AC? Yes it can download the update. Off as in receiving no power? No.

Most electronics these days are never truly Off. If they were when you picked up the remote to turn it On, nothing would happen.

I updated the first post to tell users not to update.
I added splatoon as possible game to use to update to 5.3.2

Edit:
I also edited all the sticky topics in this section.
If you see any guide telling users to safely update online to get 5.3.2 please report it and I'll fix it.
