Please don't tell me they have put off this exploit because of 5.4.0???, if that is the case then that is bollocks personally and just a wind up! I read back somewhere about NWP1 saying sorry about E3 release so I'm presuming an excuse has been made to put it back because of the new update! if this is the case they must of known an update would come before E3 so then they would have the opportunity to talk bollocks and put it off!!! I swear this exploit is just a wind up! I smell, smell :p1ng2:

This is a real thing. I found it in an Italian forum:
https://www.reboot.ms/forum/threads/guida-wiiu-nand-dump-ripristino-via-hardware.283/
I could translate that but I don't want any responsibility if something goes wrong, since I'm not going to follow the tutorial myself.
I translated it via Google, and the tutorial states that this method is still untested. If it were tested and proven, I could provide a NAND mod service similar to the service I provide for 3DS'. I'd be pissed if I test it and destroyed my WiiU. On the other hand if it were successful...

Don't worry, it's still being developed.

M8 if it was being developed then why not release it, it was finished along time ago apprantetly??? your telling me everytime a new update rolls out there just going to have excuses and put it off again and again, updates are always going to happen so there will always be an excuse to put it off!

What are you saying? They don't release it because IT'S NOT READY! I won't release the wheel of a car and brand it as a car!

At the end of the day, the exploit is finished when its finished. The devs know best whether or not it would be worthwhile updating the exploit for 5.4, or if it would take so much time that it wouldn't be worth it.

There's a lot of reasons to ensure it works on the latest firmware version, such as appealing to potential homebrew developers who might have their console on the latest version.

M8 if you have been keeping up with matters, it was ready along time ago for an E3 release and then funny enough an update came and it was put off! arse lickers will be arse lickers, period! I'm certainly not!

I figured as much. So how did the 3DS NAND mod get developed? Trial and error or is it just a simpler device?

The points can be found with an oscilloscope (at least that's how we found them on the new 3DS). That's not what I'm questioning. In order to do a dump for a 3DS both the PC and 3DS have to be powered on. Now call me paranoid, but this has the potential to screw both machines. I realize there's no power going from 3DS/WiiU to PC or vise versa, so that isn't as risky as I'm making it out to be. However, if I kill my WiiU my wife will kill me.

EDIT: If someone wouldn't mind taking the risk, I'll do the mod and test it. All I would ask is that shipping be covered.

Kids have been playing Splatoon most of the day on 5.3.2. I wonder how long N will allow you to play online on 5.3.2.
Oh? So we still can play online on 5.3.2? So Mario Kart's still good? I'm happy then. Too bad I didn't get Splatoon in time to update before this rolled out.

@NWPlayer123 Are you all going to wait to find bugs in 5.4.0 before releasing anything or will you still release the 5.3.2 exploit when it's finished?

I'm wondering this too, if I block the Nintendo Update Servers one way or another this means I can play Splatoon right? :o

Delayed? What happens after the next update? Are you guys waiting on the last wiiu system update?

All valid questions now.

Hmmm. I might start watching on eBay for a console that powers on but with a malfunctioning drive. $100 is a lot for an expirement.

Well they did play on 5.3.2 but as I said it updated around 7-8 last night. Not sure if went into sleep mode or it N forced it, really wasn't paying attention. (I did not try to prevent it, I have a second offline console)

If you constantly aim to release on the latest firmware, you'll be developing the same thing over and over again. It seems almost like an oxymoron.

I'm not trying to sound entitled or like you all owe the scene anything, I just don't understand the point in constantly aiming for the latest update before releasing. What I do understand is wanting to release it on the latest Firmware so more people have access, developers and otherwise, however it seems like it's just holding the scene back at this point aiming for that goal. Plenty of people are ready to start digging and developing homebrew. I don't see why wait, when more people could pitch in and speed up the process. People like open sources for a reason, and many of you should know why. So I guess I don't understand the logic anymore at this point.

Again, I'm not trying to sound entitled or anything, nor am I trying to coerce you. Just seems like fallacy now. Either way I'll be waiting. Hope you're all doing well.

Edit: Just so everyone knows, I'm not hassling (you)them. I'm merely stating how this is looking to those outside the building with some knowledge of how this stuff works, using my own opinion as a voice. It's not meant to be an attack or backlash of any sort. They work hard and for free unless someone donates something, so don't be a dick.

I wonder if the DVD drives are console specific, as in tied to the console (a la Xbox 360). I would be less apprehensive to give it a go if I could repair it at a lowered cost than replacing it.

they might not be. the laser assembly might, but the laser itself could possibly be replaced with a generic one. I'm not up on the wiiu internals so don't quote me on this.
