He made it sound like it would most likely be either in the next few days, or at most next week. So, SOON. It may not end up being true, but I suggest wiping internet settings ASAP just to be sure

Yeah, that text I posted was aimed at devs, but I'd assume they'll push a new version for production (consumers) sometime in the next week or so, if they're talking about the Wii U Version Table.
Also, just ordered the Mario Party 10 bundle, should get here tomorrow :) one more thing to play around with once we get the Webkit exploit ported.
I set up text notifications for Wiiumpersonator so I'll know the moment it goes live ;)

An Update? duh...
guess it's time for me to figure out how i block it in my router, because right now the Wii U is my only way to access the internet.

NWPlayer123: You might have mentioned it somewhere in the last 200 sites, but I was wondering about the current state of the IOSU exploit.
You said Hykem is working on it, but what about the progress? Did he managed to exploit it yet? Is he on a good lead or atleast confident to find one? And what IF he does, are there plans to release it?

I just wonder because IOSU to me seems like the pinacle of Wii U hacking and the hardest level of privileges to achieve (correctg me if I'm wrong :D)

And you said that the one found by comex got patched already, do you know what he actually did to it to exploit it? And can you share any details if you do?

We're all kinda busy with life, but Hykem's been mainly focusing on the Webkit exploit (what with setting up the VMs and such). I don't think he has much other than ideas at this point. I also have no idea what comex did to exploit IOSU, I'm surprised we have all of their work TBH. It'll probably pick up again once we get Webkit stuff out of the way.

how do you know it was patched? :P

A little birdy told me....unless they were talking about a different one (which I doubt)

You shouldn't trust him with anything or share anything with him.

He will leak everything even if you explicitly ask him not to share it, which I know from my own personal experience with him.
A long time ago Bubba told me Zombiu was the key. To hacking the Wii U. He did not say more. Before that I was shown a picture of a "prototype" WiikeyU. I could not.confirm it. Another time he sent me "proof" people were bad mouthing me after I settled down. I could never confirm anything he said. I am indifferent when it comes to Bubba.

It was targeted specifically at 3.0.1, was subsequently patched in 3.1.0, and should work on versions before that.

Grrr... I'm still at 3.1.0 (and staying there for now). On the other hand, if I remember correctly, it's now possible to download all Wii U updates from the NUS and it's "just" a matter of finding the missing (Starbuck) Ancast key to fully decrypt them (f0f has it so it's not impossible to do so on v3.0.1 and perhaps lower -- the key will remain the same). Once that's done, the patches in higher versions can be looked at to see what is patched, and based on that an effort made to create an exploit in the lower versions.

And that's exactly what Hykem plans to do, yes. Of course, the keys aren't the important part, it's making a new exploit because of stuff like per-console keys and integration into applications like emuNAND and disc dumping (looked into it some more, you can only access the disc's /meta and /code folders through IOSU, which means you need an exploit to dump the entire disc).

wait, you can see part of the disc with a kernel exploit? So an IOSU exploit is needed to potentially dump a game entire disc)?

Yes, the application can access its own /vol/content directory (which we can also access through the kernel by overwriting coreinit to point to our own code like TCPGecko does), the rest says "system only" which I take to mean IOSU given it's the only thing that interacts with filesystem and metadata.

ATM I'm on 4.1.0E..
Is it worth it to update now to 5.3.2, loose my currently homebrew possibility and wait for your exploit?
I'm a bit unsure, because you've said new update is coming..
Will your exploit be backwardscompatible to 4.1.0?

Yes, we're trying to make it work on all versions. If you're that low I'd wait until we get the Webkit exploit working and then feel free. You can always update via disc later.
