As I said before, this console is useless to me anyways in its current state. I have nothing to lose. I have a replacement Wii U on its way from a seller on ebay that I got for dirt cheap. I'm not worried about it . There's always the possibility that the Starbuck could prevent anything unofficial that's flashed to the NAND/eMMC from executing, but there's only one way to find out. But even if that's the case, not all is lost, because it may be possible to attack the starbuck as well with some sort of hardware mod to manipulate it and allow the code to run.

As for hardware mods for running homebrew, the 360 was out for fours years BEFORE the JTAG hack was discovered. The 360 came out in 2005 (here in the USA) and the JTAG hack came out in 2009. The Wii U isn't even four years old yet, so you never know. While the 360 did have a short lived software based exploit google "King Kong Hack" for more info on that, it was very quickly stamped out by M$. The JTAG hack replaced it a few years later. Eventually the JTAG was eliminated, but it was replaced with three other hardware mods that followed, RGH, RGH 2 and RJTAG .

We won't know if something like this is possible unless we actually try it out. While I already have a useless Wii U, I'd love to give it a shot. I might be able to resurrect it this way (at least for homebrew), but if not, no harm done, nothing lost

The emmc is read like an sd card. Google the ps3 and latter 360 models being read (emmc) The 360 flasher won't work. http://www.ps3hax.net/2013/02/super-slim-components-and-test-points/

Thanks, i will look into it when i get a chance. If the nand flasher is a no go, i have a random sd card reader lying around im not using

That approach works just fine for me too . I was just being observant about the pinouts

It kinda is, but I'd rather keep it focused on softmod/IOSU/kernel/homebrew stuff. It's starting to get unmanageable with how many pages there are to read through, so we should branch off to relevant topics/threads whenever possible. Once the kernel exploit/homebrew launcher is finally released I'd make a seperate thread to manage everything, for example. You're doing fine, no worries

TSK. i think most devs dont mention what they are upto untill they have something worthy to anounce or mention. so far we have a region free chip that flew in for a few days of filling threads. we have vwii triicore and no offence i havnt seen any videos other then you testing different memory cards!!!!!! and now latest subject EMMC nand reading!!! good luck with what you do...............

Okay, so I have an old Xbox 360 USB spi NAND flasher/dumper lying around and looking at the pinouts on both the nand flasher the toshiba emmc nand chip found in my wii U, it looks like they match up . I might be able to use this to at least dump my NAND. From there I could inspect the contents of it and see if it is in fact encrypted. If it is, we will need a private key to go any further with this. If not......SCORE! Let's just wait and see......View attachment 13159View attachment 13160

I still gotta eat dinner and chillax from a night after work, but I just wanted to take a quick look at this. I won't be going any further with this tonight. But I got a brand new super thin soldering iron tip with "Wii U" written all over it for sometime later this week .

UPDATE: I also have some blank original Matrix Glitchers (for RGH on the Xbox 360) just waiting to be flashed, so perhaps if there are some failsafes in place to prevent from writing to the eMMC (once I'm ready to do some actual testing) I could write some custom code to run on one to get around it, maybe.....

It was 1am here when I posted that, I just wanted to take a look at it. I'm off for about a month from school right now so I DO have the time to work on this. I just wasn't going to do it after working all day yesterday. You guys can call me a troll all you want, I don't take anything on the internet personally so have at it .

I also did some research last night (before bed) and the eMMC IS in fact encrypted so it is dumpable but none of the contents will be viewable for the time being. That being said if the private key can be obtained then the content is readable and possibly tweakable. My only concern is the Starbuck, that may cause problems with such a hack attempt.

But at the request of NWPlayer123 i'm taking this discussion to another thread. Once I have more info/progress I will open up a new thread .
