I see, well that doesn't mean he's gone. Hykem on the other hand is GONE. Probably won't see him ever again. Definite difference between the two lol. Thanks for clearing that up.

And Wii U is trending on Twitter ...

About to go and buy an exploitable Wii U, but I know that the second I do, that something will be released for 5.5, it's just the way it always seems to go for me ...
Who cares if 5.5.0 gets an expliot. Unlike the 3ds it seems homebrew is version specif on the wii u it seems most homebrew only works on 5.3.2

Looking back throughout most of this thread, it's quite unfortunate to see many users getting upset about the upcoming 5.5 kernel exploit. I know many of you want to use it for piracy (to me, I have to agree with the devs that it would be quite wasted if it was just solely for that purpose), and I also do like to rant on about how I'd like to use kernel specifically for Unity Wii U, but to be fair, I'm sure it won't be too long now, looking at the amount of time the devs have now had to hold back such a precious exploit.

I think there are two key phrases that play a great role in all of this: being patient, and staying calm.

I know a lot of unfortunate stuff has arisen in the past month or so, what with Hykem disappearing, Dimok leaving, more new users appearing, hyping, and annoying the hell out of the rest of us, but I feel like the best is to come soon enough to compensate for the said damage that has been done to the community.

Also, where are those great 5.5 homebrew developers? We've still got ample time to make some more homebrew before the big release! ;)
I think I may chip into the scene again sometime. There's a couple of things I was hoping to do for the Wii U homebrew-wise, but I've not been able to set aside the time at the moment. I've been more busy with PS Vita and 3DS stuff; Wii U hasn't been much of a priority to me due to the fact kernel hasn't been released yet.........

well voxel and all concerned parties we need all of you at this time....it could all go very very flat very very fast...we have too few devs as it is....lets just be the best we can be...and see what we can do together....

I would develop homebrew but i don't have an exploited wii u. I think the wii u instrest me more the 3ds when it comes to developing stuff

the stopping of production is a good new for hacking but not for the future games
for the hacking, they won't make a lot of updates after this
for the games, they won't really make new games on wii u

You know how active wii homebrew is? even though it is so out dated. Think abut when nintendo forgets about the wii u. The hoomebrew will start because every will be on a hackable firmware
The Wii also had a pretty good head-start

Also, I have a question: We can obviously modify files with the current kernel exploit. What's stopping us from using Caffiine to modify a save and give us offline exploit functionality?

Nothing, actually. You just have to go thru a lot more hoops because the exploit has to be entirely ROP (which isn't that difficult if you know what you're doing tbh) because games don't have a JIT we can dump code into and run.

Can someone make a thread on this. This pretty much confirms a kernel being held is useless. Unless there isnt one
There's one right on the main page. But the end of hardware production doesn't mean end of (online) support. So i think the devs should still keep their exploits private until they are patched or Nintendo completely dropped any support on the system
