It's honestly really embarrassing that nintendo haven't patched it yet. Like, that bug's been public for how many months now? The 3DS has a lot of similar unpatched-yet-public bugs. Its newest firmware patched a 3 year old one.

Also you mentioned they checked the kernel. While they could patch it there, wouldn't it make more sense for them to target coreinit?

Quote: "I've checked all kernel code from 4.1.0 all the way up to 5.3.2 and what we're trying to exploit didn't suffer any kind of change"
So it's definitely confirmed, that's great news for those of us on 5.3.2. So will the 5.3.2 browser exploit be released when the kernel exploit is released, or before? I would like to play around with a few things.

so what does this userspace do ?

and thanks that's a very helpful post

Userspace just gives you basic access to running code, you can't access anything the program you exploited can't access. So, for instance, we can't access the SD card through the browser with just a userspace exploit, that'd take an IOSU exploit since that's what manages permissions. Also I should probably add that to the FAQ.

They're being developed independently so who knows.

Would you suggest to stay on 4.1 or update to latest firmware? I dont care for online, just dont want to be left out when the exploit comes :D

Sorry for my ignorance, but i thought the browser exploit and kernel exploit were limked. In that one led to the other?

So will both browser exploit and kernel exploit both independently allow people to run homebrew apps? Could you briefly explain which purpose of each exploit? Thanks

The browser exploit is used to trigger the kernel exploit. Having a kernel-level exploit gives us way more to work with compared to a userspace exploit. For more info, read about embedded systems hacking in general.

They've only updated webkit once, and since then the only thing they've patched is the old browser exploit (why'd that end up leaking, anyways?)

Wow so they only patched that bug and didn't upgrade the webkit? Weird. Anyway thanks a lot for that! Couldn't find the info in google but I should've checked wiiubrew.
