Is it just me, or is anyone else having a really hard time trying to connect their Wii U via FTP? I'm trying to change my vWii's language to English, but every time I try to connect, I get a "connection failed" error.

I know it's not my internet, because I was able to use FTP on my phone without issues, but it just won't connect with the Wii U. Here's what I've tried so far:
  1. Tried using 3 different laptops. It didn’t connect to my desktop either none of the laptops worked.
  2. Used different programs like WinSCP and FileZilla. Yes, I made sure to remove the period at the end of the host, so it looks like this: Host: XXX.XXX.1.7 | Port: 21, still didn’t work.
  3. Temporarily disabled my firewall and network protection on windows defender, still didn't work.
  4. FTPiiU is enabled in the plugins
I use aroma btw, does anyone have any more suggestions? I'd really appreciate the help.

Edit: I figured it out turns out my ISP’s router has AP Isolation enabled by default, and unfortunately, it can’t be disabled. I had to use my laptop’s hotspot, and now I’m able to connect via FTP.

Filezilla is more stable IMO.
Confirm first your console can connect to the internet, then confirm the IP address, try ping it using other machine.
I tried it with FileZilla and still got the same error on 3 different laptops. Yes, I can confirm that the Wii U is connected, the IP address I entered matches what FTPiiU displays, and I made sure FTP is enabled. I also tried connecting using 2 different phones, but I still get the same error. I can confirm it’s not my internet, as I was able to connect to my phone and my PS3 through FileZilla and WinSCP. The issue only happens when trying to connect to my Wii U.

I agree the FTP plugin is buggy, sometimes when the console is idle for certain time and the screen went dark, if I wake it up FTP will be not usable like your description.
When this happens, try disable FTP in the plugin, exit the plugin config menu, then enter again and re-enable the FTP, this will always make it work again.

If still not working, then I have no idea what is the root cause...

Is FIlezilla set to passive mode? Found at settings->FTP.
Yes, it is. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for me. FTPiiU has never worked. I’ve tried it on various consoles and devices like the PS3, Xbox 360, and phones, and they all worked with 3 laptops, but the Wii U never did. I also tried that method of disabling the plugin, exiting, going back to the plugin config, re-enabling it, and exiting again to save the configuration. I even checked my router’s WLAN list, and it matches what FTPiiU shows, I just want to apply a custom theme and modify my vWii, why is this FTP for Wii U so buggy man 😭

Try updating the plugin, delete the one you have along with its config file

Also check the Aroma updater to make sure you have the most recent version.
I've done that too welp, unfortunately, I've run out of options. I despise this rubbish FTPiiU. All I wanted was to change my vWii's language to English and apply a custom theme, but I can't proceed because of this FTPiiU issue. I'm very aggravated with this thing.
