Ok so I recently got a portable external hard drive and a USB hub top power it up. The Wii U reads it, but I can't transfer any games to it. It cashed and says error 160-2701. Is there a way to fix it?

Can't say for sure, but I'm betting you have a hard drive that the Wii U needs you to either plug into an outlet for power, or for it to have one of those cords that connect it to 2 USB ports to get full power, either method should work. This is the case for many models of HDD. Mine works fine when plugged into a regular wii with just one cord, but in a Wii U, while it will power on, it for some reason doesn't receive enough power to save, read, and transfer to unless I use one of those cords that power up the HDD by connected to 2 USB ports.

I have it connected it too a high speed usb 2.0 (with ten ports) and i have 2 ports connected to the outlet(1 power source ans 1 usb plug) and i keep getting an error. should i put in another power source?

Hmm sounds like it probably has enough power, I honestly don't know what to tell you. Try another hard drive and see if that works. This way you can find out if the problem rests with your hard drive or the Wii U itself.

I have experienced this. It's problem after 5.0.0 update.
I have been in contact with Nintendo, they send my info to japanese department for further investigations and told to get back to me once they know more. After few months it got ridiculous and saved my save files by finding super old WD cover, still waiting for fix so I can have more than one game at a time installed :glare:

Here's thread over at Nintendos Techforums: http://techforums.nintendo.com/message/138452
Couple users seem to have figured out Nintendo simply broke HDDs sleep function (which makes sense as that old WD cover I found did had problems of never shutting down until you unplugged adapter), which makes external HDD to sleep making it look like it doesn't get enough power. Also seems to be related to the new quick start function.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.
