It's a SanDisk 32 GB one. Shows up on my PC, but not the Wii U.

It's correctly formatted too btw.

how do you know it's not being detected?
I'm not entirely sure. I don't have a wiimote so I can't look in vwii. But it doesn't show up when I check the storage stuff and the tiramisu exploit says it can't find anything when I press "B" on the website.

The actual error message I get on Tiramisu is:
FSOpenFile failed. File missing /vol/external01/wiiu/payload.elf

All the files are where they should be, including the payload, so I have no idea what the issue is.

Sounds highly like wrongly formatted. Please double-check it's formatted to FAT32 with 32 kb cluster size.

The only other error that comes to my mind would be a hardware defect of the card reader...

go into the vwii and plug the sd card in. it will make a sound, and the sd card icon will light up.

I can't, I don't have a wiimote

I'll update you

I don't think you'd need a wiimote, just let the press A thing be pressed automatically by the machine. iirc, the icon is on the home menu, so you won't have to navigate anything.

People a few years ago reported that if they use panasonic sd formatter to format their card and then format it back to fat32 32kb then it made there card recognized by the Wii U you can try it it might work. Also make sure your card is MBR partition scheme not GPT.

Your Wii U might also just have a dead reader if the sd icon doesn’t appear on the home menu

Mine worked once and then intermittently

An update on this thread, I'm not sure if it's an actual hardware issue, I tested the tiramitsu browser exploit without the sd card inserted and got a different error message.

I did, and it is correctly formatted.

I "fixed" the issue, but now when I launch homebrew it gets stuck on a blue screen with bubbles with no options.

When launching homebrew, the Wii U gets stuck on an empty screen with no options, the only way to exit is to forcefully shut down the console as well.

Link to my last thread that lead up to this problem, if it might give some clues on what the problem might be: https://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-u-doesnt-recognize-my-sd-card.621219/

The SanDisk 32 GB SD card is correctly formatted, and the homebrew directory isn't empty.

The files are the ones available on the wii u hacks website, I followed the tiramisu guide.

Opening homebrew looks like this:
