I hope he doesn't release it, at least until it's a 100% definite that it won't brick anything.

Do you REALLY want a load of people on here moaning about how they can't get it working or it's bricked their Wii?

Half the posts on here are from people who can't even work out what directory to stick emulator ROMs in. Imagine the damage they could cause with something like this.

Waninikoko, are you going to release this?

It is just a wad, correct?

this can be done already:

dump system menu 2.1
pack it correctly into a wad
install the wad using wad installer

Well, not as simple as that as the IOS won't let you install an older system menu.

I'll release it ONLY if it is useful someday and it is secure enough to avoid bricks.

Is the missing step deleting the current system files before installing the old ones Waninkoko?

ok, so I forget the part where either you patch IOS or make him believe this is a newer version...

anyway, you already know that going back to an older system menu does not help anything if nintendo decide to force update for a new IOS that correct commonly used bugs or patch the IOS used by Zelda ? What do you think would happen if you have a channel installed taht requires some features from the last wii system menu ? It's like patching system menu to make him use an older IOS, it's only a temporaly fix

so why making so much noise about this tool if it is useless ?

I know, and this is intended to be a temporary method to still have trucha bug.

It's useless to fight with him Waninkoko.... he's a troll. It doesn't matter what anyone says he will post back and say how easy it is to do and that it's useless.... but never mentions the fact that he has never attempted to do it himself. So I propose this to Jacobeian follow all your steps and downgrade your Wii to a lower firmware. Post a video of your dumb ass doing it, and when you fail to do so, come back and shut the fuck up or better yet, just don't come back.

Also Waninkoko, would this be useful to install an older version of firmware to a semi-bricked Wii, and have it be back to normal?

I'm not a troll, I'm just pointing some stuff that people may have missed because they only see the "downgrade firmware" buzz and are too lazy to understand how this is really working and why this is not a good solution (what would I downgrade my wii, I have abolutely no use in doing this, and for the record, everything is available in libogc, ES_ section)
the fact you don't like what I'm saying is another problem, and I don't care

Look at some of the scene groups releases over the years for games. Some went from older versions to update to a newer patch of a game. I'd take a wild guess the same with applications.

If there was 1 person in this world that collected 1 penny for every negative post they'd be bloody rich. Until then, chug a few brews or toke till you choke.

Eventually this will be useful. And since you didn't post a video of you downgrading your firmware with your 'simple' steps, then I'm assuming it's not as easy as it sounds. You can talk all you want but in the end that's all your doing, running your mouth about something you don't completely understand. Your just a negative person with nothing good to say about anything. This will be useful eventually. Progress has to start somewhere.

Yes, the semi-brick fix disks on hackmii have been around for a while now. Yes they work just fine. I was simply wondering if this would ALSO allow you to fix a semi-brick. Thank you anyways for the link though raulpica, at least you were trying to help.

Again, not really because IOS37 is already out and you can already look into the code to see that the bug has been patched. What they change is obvious, they fixed the signature bug so you can not use this method anymore to run your own code, period. Knowing how they patched the bug is no help in this case, you have to found another backdoor.

And how do you run the downgrader if an IOS comes that block the ability to run homebrew from the system Menu and at the same time patch the IOS used by zelda ? simple: you are screwed...

I don't want to sound negative, i'm just realist... I know that a lot of people are dreaming of stuff like in the PSP scene but this will only happen with a custom BOOT application, custom IOS or older Wii System Menu are no help in this case when nintendo can autoupdate both when they want to

I just want custom firmware that supports Gamecube remote control of the Wii Menu, and Wii remote (at least the power button) support in Gamecube mode.
Oooooooh, yeah, I want that too

A Wad Installer Channel don't directly use the TPHack.
But, the downgrader can come in form of Iso, same as the semibrick fix.

If the Wii system Menu is updated and use an IOS with fixed bug, you won't be able to run any channels or Trucha disc from it

Nah, the IOS37 isn't God, i'm sure that have a lot of bug, and if we don't find a way to re-use the TPHack, we can find another exploit. lol
Yes, for sure. Photo channel may be full of bugs, there is whole system to understand, not only Twilight Princess. I think someone will find another exploit in no time. And maybe Nintendo have released this IOS37 but when they activated it to test wii it caused something to their wii and they aren't activating it(blah grammar cough cough). Or they forgot about how to activate it.

! And LOOK what it have done. I hadn't played Zelda about three weeks because of homebrew! *inserts Zelda disc*

Not only the Photo Channel, look the Internet Channel, with doing a bit of little setting i'm sure that in the future we can acces in may page that have on the Wii the same effect what'have the TPHack.
