have a wii. ver 2.2 thought it was not working. then i tried to sync a wiimote and it sync but still nothing on screen. sound works. i was using the composite yellow cable. so i tried the HD 480p cable. cool it works. went to the settings page moved to 480i. saved. turned off the wii. placed back the yellow cable. still no video. thought it was the firmware. i updated to 4.3u. okay now tried to do the same process. switched back 480p to 480i and placed the yellow cable. still no video. i need to use the yellow cable cause im planning on mounting it on the car. the component works with both 480p/i but i cannot connect that to the monitor on the car. the yellow cable is fully working on 10 other wiis ive tried. so its impossible that its not working.

so maybe you need a new yellow cable?
i tried 3 normal yellow cables. all wont work. its stuck on 480p. even when i check MMM it says 480p. is there a way to force reset the settings

Try pressing DPAD Down on the wiimote and reset on the wii

anymore suggestions? im still stuck. i tried removing the battery and still nothing. does the battery have anything to do with it? maybe the battery is just dead? the wii is working but its just eating another component slot id rather use with something else

Use the right connections on your TV.
The cable you mention is a standard cable. NOT A COMPONENT CABLE.
A standard cable WIL NOT WORK on a component input.

ALSAlso the cable you mention CANNOT be set on 480 P

Well spotted.
Tell me you weren't doing this OP?

im doing it properly. to keep it simple. yellow goes to yellow socket. not working. the RBG cable works on the proper RBG sockets. it works on 480p/i. audio Red and white works for both cables.
YELLOW = not working. tried on 3 tvs. tried 3 YELLOW cords. i was wondering if it could be that the settings cannot be saved? thats why its stuck on RBG cables.

if there is ANY other software loaded before the sysmenu
eg bootmii preloader or whatever
try disabling it

nope nothing. i had it as ver 2.2 then i thought maybe its the crappy firmware. so i updated it to 4.3. still no luck. maybe ill try preloader. i think it has force 480i. but MMM says im on 480i setting. so i dont know

The two cable use different pins on the wii's video connector.
Check it for physical damage. Could be further in in the wii though.

There is a 3rd kind of cable you can try.
S-Video(NTSC wiis only) or RGB-SCART(PAL wiis only)
both use the same pins as the component Cable.
