Hi, I'm relatively returning to all this.

I grew up as a Digital Native, I spent all my time on a PC growing up.

Then I quit Video Gaming for 15 years.

So I need help with PriiLoader on a Wii Console.
I set a Password, I know the Password but I cannot type a special character in the PriiLoader Password entry interface.
The Special character is a @ symbol.

I tried searching Online on Google, ChatGPT and this forum but couldn't find anything easily.
I don't have much time before I need the Password issue solved.
(Wii Console is a Gift to my Little Cousins).

ChatGPT recommended pressing 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 on the WiiMote.

Also something about secure_boot.dol or Wii_Secure.dol

Thankyou,
Kind wishes,
Huegh

That's the first time I've read this (and if you excuse me, it's a bit funny at how counterintuitive this became) BUT if PriiLoader is anything like other Wii Apps that support passwords, I think you can create/use/lock/unlock Wii Software with Passwords in .cfg or .txt files.

Now, naming them or knowing the structure in the .cfg/.txt file to be recognized as "Ah, this .cfg/.txt is my password" by PriiLoader... that's beyond me.
I'm only recalling this because I once used a Password for CFG USB Loader but quickly regretted that decision.

So, try creating a .cfg/.txt file with your PriiLoader password you set (why though!?) and check if that solves your issue.

Edit: In CFG .ini goes something like this

Code:
password: a, a, a, a
Meaning you must press A 4 times. But I'm assuming it should be plain text for PriiLoader.

PriiLoader required the password to be written in .txt file named "password.txt" to be placed on the SD card root folder.

But I don't remember receiving a warning about special characters.

I set a PriiLoader password to protect configuring the PriiLoader settings that autoboot WiiFlow.
But I was trialing Protect autoboot too.

Now I think I am relatively locked out of the Wii console cause everytime I boot it autoboots into PriiLoader so it can autoboot WiiFlow.

My intention was just that my little cousins (4 of them under the age of 10) wouldn't mess with the settings.

These were the recommendations by ChatGPT.

If the backdoor doesn’t work, you can try this workaround:

  1. Copy any .dol homebrew file (e.g., WiiXplorer) to your SD card.
  2. Rename it to wii_secure.dol and place it in the root of the SD card.
  3. Boot your Wii normally.

PriiLoader may load that DOL instead of asking for the password—letting you access the System Menu or Homebrew Channel for eventual uninstallation.

another instance ChatGPT recommended secure_boot.dol as a method of booting that through PriiLoader without a password.

If I could launch the Homebrew channel, apparently I can reinstall PriiLoader and it would reset the settings. But I cannot do that.

Well, I'm assuming this problem can't be that radical. PriiLoader devs probably thought about this, and I'm sure there's gotta be a way to revert settings.

About Wiiflow... never used it (I'm the kind if guy that prefers things to work rather than make them look pretty) but if I'm not mistaken Autoboot via PriiLoader only needs you to select the app to boot from, and I'm not judging but honestly don't understand why some Wii users overcomplicate things most of the time.

Are you able to use your Wii normally? If yes, forget about this.
If no, I'd consider a complete reinstalling of PriiLoader (simply download PriiLoader from Wii.guide and install it again) so it possibly overwrites any possible irreversible setting it might have.

PS: Like I said, I'm talking by experience here so I've never had this issue before so I hope you understand I can't quite guide you to a legit fix. Maybe more experienced users can help you better, but if you're willing to try, try redownloading PriiLoader and reinstalling it... that's what I'd do with these kind of specific problems.

ChatGPT is most of the times building replies out of thin air, so wouldn't trust it with these kind of Wii specific issues.

Try the backdoor method.

Added a password backdoor incase you forgot the password. To change the password temporary to "BackDoor" press on the Password Screen "1" and then 4 times "2" on the Remote or "Y" and 4 times "X" on GC/Classic.

If your Priiloader version is 0.4, the console is fucked.

You might be able to do full system restore using the 003 unbrick method...?

EDIT: I was wrong.

I'll keep trying different solutions.

But I am being honest. Not that you indicated otherwise.

It's really not letting me even boot into Wii Menu or The Homebrew Channel.
I launch it, then it asks for a password.

The password is in a .txt file called "password.txt"

I tried secure_boot.dol
Wii_secure.dol

I tried the Bypass of 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2.

But I atm I have to go do somethings in the Physical world.
So I'll fully troubleshoot and try all my options later.

I look forward to it.

:)

Thankyou SO MUCH.

It worked.

The Backdoor/Bypass keyword is "Pune".

I typed it in, and it allowed me to fix all the configurations and settings and all related stuff.

It worked :).

Kindest wishes,

So there is a bypass password?

Glad it didn't turn into a total brick like I assumed it might've been.

Okay so I've read some of the Priiloader updates on the Link given by @master801

"Pune" got me through the autoboot lock.

I then turned off secure autoboot.

And the trigger of the "BackDoor" keyword is the " 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2" so the number 1 button Once, and the 2 button Four times.
Then you type "BackDoor".

I then set password again to a password without Special Characters.

and it's now fully functional.

THANKYOU SO MUCH.

I thought the temporary backdoor password was "BackDoor"?
I think it is.

But "Pune" Worked first.

Then it stopped working after I launched the Wii menu or after I turned off "Protect autoboot"

Then I checked the logs again.

Then I tried the number buttons 1,2 sequence and typed in "BackDoor".

Then it worked again.

So yeah.

I'm confused, what made u even try Pune (omg what am I saying, lol) in the first place? Especially before trying backdoor

Note under 0.4 9 points down.

- Added a new magic word to force system menu to be started. (The word is "Pune")

Unless I'm mistaken, magic words aren't the same as passwords or backdoor temporary passwords, but are more like arguments used by tools like loadpriiloader to gain access to priiloader (or system menu).

If it worked then that's great, I'm just trying to better understand how things work vs how they were intended to work. I'll ask Daco about this on discord. Thx
