I have a modded with with 4.0 firmware and the homebrew channel. I have been using it for a while now and all of a sudden while I was playing a game it said disc cannot be read.

Now everytime I use GeckoOs it says no dvd found or I get a "Unable to read disc please eject..." error. I tried using a legit game and starting it through the wii menu but i get the same error. I tried using an air can to clean the lens and nothing. I reinstalled homebrew and I get the same error.

Whats wrong?

Do you have preloader installed? My Wii gives me that error if I enable the preloader hack 'force games to run in IOS249'

Turn the hack off & they should run again

Quite likely the lens on your Wii drive is at fault, if you've done no recent changes software wise. Playing backups can put more strain on your drive compared to normal games.

Ya but Dvdx doesnt really matter for this does it? Any way I can clean my lense better than using this air can and I probably wont be able to open up my wii myself.

You should look into a usb loader if your Wii is soft modded. I rarely use my Wii's dvd drive now and just play my games off a usb hard drive. Far more convenient then swapping disks all the time.

You shouldn't have to remove anything if you follow the guide I linked you to. You have the homebrew channel, if you have an older version it'll simply update it, so no need to remove it.
