I got some error on start up

failed to get tmd size tid 281480735900232
failed to get tmd size tid XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

then wii mod loads....

is this error on my end or wiimodWell it depends on tid 281480735900232, Im not sure what that is by just looking at the number but you should be able to figure out which it is by looking in the title manager. If the title in question is fine and no issues then it might be a bug in Wii Mod or maybe it is trying to do something it shouldn't for that title and it should know better. Or there could be something wrong with the title. So check the title manager and look for 00010001/57464248, so that will be under "Installed Channel Titles" and with display mode set to Full it should say 57464248 in parenthesis.

QUOTE(kylster @ Jul 20 2011, 06:31 AM) PreFiix has the hacks built in already so I was assuming the I would get the same response if I reinstalled Priiloader due to my previous experiences.

I dumped both using WiiMod v2.8 the System Menu gets dumped as 00000001-00000002, but no PreFiix was installed after all this.
Yes you will get similar issues trying to apply the patches with Priiloader but as I said there should be no reason why the patches cannot be applied just the programs might need to be changed to allow it.

So what System Menu were you running when you dumped it? Are you sure the install of the wad was a success, no errors were displayed? I'll do some testing later with Prefiix and see if this is something unique to it.

I followed MauiFrogs SoftMod Guide so I the one suplied in his guide (4.1U v54321). When looking to dump the System Menu in WiiMod it simply displays the title System Menu 00000001-00000002 which is the one I installed/dumped before doing everything.

Yes everything installed correctly. No errors or anything. I still have my NAND dump but I'm not worried about testing just only find time to do so at night; I got that boot2

Let me know what you tried and I'll see about doing some more things if not when I get time I'll just try to reinstall the WAD from Mauifrogs Guide vs dumping agian and see if maybe that is the cause.

Can anyone tell me why we cant change IOS249 rev=MAX so it's not updated by Official updates?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the rev needs to stay at 21006 etc because USB loaders use the rev number to determine whether to use the IOS reload block that only d2x cIOS can use.

A similar issue exists with Mighty Channels, if the rev isn't 21006 it will think that the cIOS is wanin rev17, which requires a different set of code to work properly.

@xfcrowman thanks for the info, I myself couldnt do such a task but if the devs havent fixed this yet then I won't complain cause there are too many like that but I do appreciate what they have all contributed.

Ok I've managed to do some testing this morning.
Installed SM4.3U ver65535 running off IOS123
Dumped SM title=00000001-00000002 and IOS8 title=00000050 (under WiiMod2.8)
Installed Priiloader (did another of this test but installed PreFiix w/same results)
Installed Mauifrogs SM4.1Uv54321 (from soft-mod guide NOT DUMPED)
Everything works fine.

I'm still going to try dumping 4.1U v54321 that's already installed after I restore my Wii with BootMii. Can anyone think of any tests I could preform? Also does anyone know how to convert Priiloader hacks to different SM versions? I belive this would be best if we had Priiloader hacks compatible with this type of SM. This wouldnt make Mauifrogs SoftMod obsolete but would allow it to be more easily followed.

More Test Results:
Dumped SM4.1u ver4321 + IOS60 (Both from Mauifrogs SoftMod Guide)
Installed SM4.3U ver65535 running off IOS100
Installed SM4.1U v4321 dumped as title 00000001-00000002 and IOS60 dumped as title 0000003c
Installed Priiloader (for precaution)
hm... Ok even though I dumped SM4.1U and IOS60 and even after I reinstalled them I'm still on SM4.3U???

So why does SM4.3U dump as System Menu.WAD but SM4.1U (from Mauifrog's Soft-Mod Guide) dumps as 00000001-00000002.WAD?
Ok when installing 00000001-00000002.WAD by itself I get ERROR! (ret =-1022) with AHBPROT 58; switched to IOS236 which has all permissions set still gives ret ERROR!...

FYI...I can reinstall SM4.1U using the WAD from Mauifrogs Soft-Mod Guide fine just cant dump it.

So what makes this SM so different from the rest? Would it have some negative effect later down the line if say Nintendo released an updat that could somehow patch or overwrite any version SM?

Ok i'm out for the day got-to-goto-work blah!! So if there are any curious people out there with info please let me know and I'll look at it tonight.

I did some testing and can confirm those system menus are not dumping good wads, so they weren't installing. I'll see what I can do to fix them in the next version. As for priiloader hacks not working tho there was a thread today about that http://gbatemp.net/t302279-priiloader-hack...m-version-54450 and if you use a modified hacks_hash.ini it should work with priiloader, I can't say for PreFiix but I would think it has some way to modify the hacks like priiloader.

@jskyboo: man you read through all that LoL; thanks for looking into it, it's just something that really interests me. From the moment I read what your app can do I was like what!! Just thinking about ModMii and Mauifrogs guide combined for simplicity
tongue.gif
Sadly just a little boys dream...nah j/k on that last part (the little boy part LoL)

If you got any ideas I'm more then willing to test them
tongue.gif

As a note on PreFiix, I installed it but never got around to reinstalling Priiloader; just PreFiix has the hacks self contained even though they are not recognized by my modifed SM.

Which SM did you dump? Cause after installing 4.3U of with a different IOS and version I dumped and I know on that last test using IOS100 I was able to successfully install 4.3U back. If you got different results from similar testing I'd be more then happy to repeat the process.

Of all honesty I think this is a minor bug and I did this all out of curiosity; I'm even more curious as to why it is like this.
It works as it's stated; it installs a System Menu with any IOS and sets the version#. Why would anyone really need to dump it? when you can use ATD to delete it. Still great job on the app.

Hmm well I tried to repeat it today and it was dumping the wads just fine. I don't know what happened when I last tried but today I was able to dump and install many times over. So are you still having issues or was it just a bad wad dump that you thought was installing and it wasn't?

I'll test again later; the only one I had problem dumping was the SM from Mauifrogs guide. All the Modified System Menus installed from your app worked fine
tongue.gif
but I'll let you know.

Sorry it took a day or two to respond, but it is in fact Mauifrogs SM-Mod that is dumping incorrectly with me; all the SM-Mods done with WiiMod dump fine but for some reason it dumps as a 18MiB file when it shoul dbe 21MiB.

I went ahead and installed IOS60v1674 into IOS123 changed to v65535 set all patches ON (except Korean Key Patch). I don't see this effecting anything. Would you like me to try anything? I assume no homebrew will have a negative effect if I use a abnormal IOS slot to run my SM?

Slight issue here. WiiMod no longer shows up under HBC but is displayed in postloader. I can still access WiiMod by a forwarder or postloader but no longer by HBC? Any idea's why? I can do a restore befor I did all this and it's solved.

For some reason i had boot.dol and boot.elf; the boot.elf was corrupt i'm assuming cause it had a 0kb file size and the moment I deleted it, it started showing back up in HBC once again hm... weird. still might want to let it be known

Hmm well in my testing I used maui's 4.3u4.1u and didn't have the same problem but I have had it for sometime, which wad were you using and how recently did you grab it?

So the dumps of the system menu's installed from Wii Mod are the wrong size? So where did the 21MiB come from, was that when downloaded with NUSD? Do you have different results with other wad dumpers and other ways of installing SM?

I'm a little confused as to what happened with your boot.elf. So you deleted boot.elf and then after loading HBC again you see it again and its 0kb?? Did you copy it from the zip or did you only copy the dol?? Yeah....gonna need some more details on that sounds kinda strange.

Yeah....that's known...and....not sure if that's gonna change. But glad the title manager was able to help you and I hope you continue to use Wii Mod.

All SM installed and dumped via WiiMod all dumped fine and was able to be installed onto another Wii with no problem. It was only Mauifrogs SM 4.1 that did that not dump right; WiiMod SM 4.1 does dump fine.

After installing a new SM with WiiMod, I turned my wii off and back on, but when going through HBC your app was no longer displayed at this point. Naturally I was worried hm... So I put my SD into my pc and went to my apps/wiimod folder and saw boot.elf had a file size of 0kb. So I deleted this file and now your app shows back up.

I had meta.xml, boot.dol, boot.elf in my apps/wiimod folder. I'm not sure the difference between the .elf and .dol are but i'm also not able to reproduce. This is only the 2nd time it happened to me.

Oops I meant 4.1U. Ok so still only Maui's are dumping wrong. Let me know if you can ever find steps to repeat the boot.elf problem. I don't even really know what to think about that.

Will do and thanks for this great app, so far I make use of everything but Region Change fuction. (mostly cause I don't need it)

Hello, i just hear about this app and all that does sounds good.
My problem is the next: i have a Red Pal Wii and want to change to NTSC-U, why u may ask? Because this was a console that my uncle buy in France for my cousin and we live in Peru, South America and here we use NTSC-U. I already tried connecting the console with componet cable to my LCD but doesnt output any signal.
Any precautions i muss take before doing it? Im almost sure what to do to mod this Wii, cuz a friend of mine had the same issue a year ago, he bought a second hand Wii but in that case i can install bootmii as boot2 so i can do whatever knowing i can always restore the NAND.
The Wii is 4.3E and serial LEF-700XXXXXX. I should first install a NONSTUB IOS60 and then install a 4.1E menu, to downgrade to a menu more friendly to any homebrew. Then i supposed using the built in option of this app changing the region. Any precautions i should take before doing it?

I thanks in advance for ur answer

If you are sure you have bootmii installed as boot2 and a WORKING BACKUP, then yeah you don't have much to fear. The process is more or less what you said, I would recommend going to the IOS menu run "Remove Stubs", then run "Update All IOSs" that will download the latest of all IOSs on nus that are not stubs. After that though, I don't recommend downgrading for a "menu more friendly to any homebrew" as long as you have the latest HBC, you should not have much to fear from staying on 4.3. That being said some people still like to go back to 4.1 and as you have bm boot2 you could if you wanted with little fear. If you are changing to NTSC I would probably recommend switching to 4.1U or 4.3U, it likely makes no difference I really don't know much about switching the display mode but after installing whatever SM you want, all you need to do is go to the Region Changer, in the advance menu, and change the settings to what you want and save them. The important thing in Region changing is making sure the area matches your SM and Wii Mod will warn you if you aren't.

Precautions:Make sure you have a working backup before doing dangerous things to your wii. I can't even count how many threads I have read about people bricking their wiis cause they had installed bootmii boot2 but either had not yet made a backup or the backup didn't work for them. So since you have the best in software brick protection, please use it correctly.

Thanx for your quick answer. But I dont explain my self right, i did once a region mod in a white Wii that i could install botmii as boot2.
My fear is that this one is the red one, so only will install bootmii as IOS. So perhaps is not realy necesary to downgrade to 4.1u menu? Well i supposed that im going to be a guinea pig for the region changer in a PAL Red Wii to NTSC-U. Hope everything will go smooth. Will post again when i make the change to confirm if have i nice red brick oder a functional NTSC-U Wii. Thanks again for ur reply and this amazing tool.

I thought it was strange that you said the wii was red yet could install bootmii boot2 but I'm not an expert on all the versions out there. Well yeah, if you only can install bootmii as IOS then you really should think about WHY you want to do these changes. As you can likely get the same results with some other tools as well, like I believe neogamma can force display mode changes, don't quote me on that I don't use neogamma myself and maybe that isn't even considered current I don't know. Now Im not saying you can't go along with the same plan as before, you just won't have a safety net.

The most dangerous part of region changing a wii is the installation of the new system menu. Technically its not more dangerous than updating a wii via the built in nintendo updater, but if something goes wrong power outtage, tornado, rapture or otherwise that is the dangerous step. And installing one for a different region is no more dangerous than one for another, but when you do change sm regions another file must be changed as well otherwise you will be semi bricked, which really isn't that bad and is still quite fixable. And that's where the region change menu comes in, that simply changes that one file, and so its quick an usually goes without a hitch and an error there is usually recoverable. Don't get me wrong there is a quite small chance that it messes up and leaves you fully bricked but that is considered to be a small chance. I recommend installing the new system menu before changing the region but really the order doesn't matter. I know this post might be too late and you may have already gone ahead and tried it, but if not maybe you might think about it again. In the end, just cause you don't have bootmii boot2 does not mean it's in any way more likely to mess up and if you do everything right and don't have a major accident it will be just fine. If you do end up deciding to do the full change then may the force be with you.

Hi Jskyboo first off I just want to thank you for this phenomenal app (Don't know how it slipped past me all the way till 2.6) it's a wonderful tool which has obviously replaced and surpassed MMM. I almost exclusively use your app jskyboo but since 2.8 I've had a bit of a nuissance and just wondered if anyone else you heard from came across this bug.

I load WiiMod 2.8 off my USB, SM 4.1U Mauifrog ver, whenever I start up WiiMod 2.7 it loads right up regardless of boot method (forwarder/HBC/PL2), but when I updated to 2.8 when I boot it up, it hangs for literally 20 secs before I see the main screen, it could be more could be less but it feels like a very long time before I see anything, worse yet if I'm impatient and tap A thinking that it hung or froze, when it starts up it's on the IOS screen first, which scared me thinking I had already done something lol! I tested it out a several times and same thing happens, 2.7 always starts right up while 2.8 has a long lag time. I'm going to test if it happens w/my SD card but do you have any suggestions? Is there any additional info I can provide you in regards to my setup? I could post a syscheck if you think it's helpful.

Thanks for any help you're willing to provide.

Well I'm glad you like it so much, and I'm even happier that you reported an issue. No joke intended, I would really prefer people to report errors than for them to go on for many versions and I find it much later down the line. And along those lines if you have ideas of what you would like added/changed feel free to tell me. I really don't want people to look at Wii Mod with rose colored glasses and think it is ever finished, good enough, whatever. Everyone should always look at it as something that could use improvement in some way.

No one has told me about an error quite like this yet so looks like you got a new one. I would be interested if it acts the same when loaded from SD. You mentioned what happens when you load 2.7 from various ways, are you saying 2.8 acts the same whether you load it from HBC or forwarder? When it does eventually load are you in AHBPROT mode? Are you running on a normal nand or is it an emulated one(sneek, nandemu, other)? Have you already run check IOSs, and by that I mean is it loading up a previous csv output or have you not run that and so it's starting fresh? Is there any output(to the screen) while its frozen or is it a black screen(or some other color for that matter)? Eh, if you know what IOSs you have I probably don't need to see your syscheck. Do you have a lot of non official IOSs? What custom IOSs do you have installed bootmii IOS, usb loader CIOSs, other customs? Do you see anything weird in the title manager? I know that is kinda a vague question but I just mean something that really stands out. If you don't have much experience with a title deleter, be careful not to delete any titles just look.

Well I'll give it a try later this weekend, if I can't repeat then I'll likely have more questions or have to make a debug version.
