Hacking Wii Menu 4.2 Released

If anyone has updated to 4.2 and has a chipped Wii and can still play games, let me know.
I have. I did the official N update. Wiikey V1 and, I haven't tested all my backups, not most don't work. I have an idea...

I might bug fix the IOS37 & 38 and burn Indiana again. But I still need the save? I'll do some working.

Anyway, I think an exploit will be out for newly bought Wii's.

What am I supposed to do with NUSD like I've never used it before...

Use it to get Wii system files

I should have been more clear =.=
I know what it's for. How do I use it. What am I supposed to select xD
0000000100000002 v481

But it's already in the NUSD database. just get the current one.

ok how to get HBC back on your wii if you have 4.2

ok if you don not already have wad manager channel on your wii, and need it to install the HBC DO THIS

1. Run indian jones exploit
2.have wad manager as boot.elf on root of SD card.
3.choose IOS250 and install the HBC.WAD. ( the one i have made with a changed title ID, ninty wont delete)

Tried and tested, PM for link to HBC (unless i can post it, is hombrew against the rules?)

you can now install cios38 rev 14 as an app via hombrew/wadmanager ios250 and legitimate backups playing now. and any other thing u need HBC for.

HBC.wad or any wad for that matter is not permitted on gbatemp. HBC.wad isn't permitted anywhere as its under Team Twiizers copyright. You must use the Hackmii Installer.

I'm pretty sure that's not going to work. The update overwrites IOS250. Having the highest version number doesn't protect it from that. Highest version number can be overwritten with the same version number.

And you did update to 4.2 through Nintendo?
Well if IOS250 really isn't patched I would suggest doing the following:
1. Install a patched IOS36 with DOP-IOS
2. install preloader
3. Enable preloader hacks
4. Install the homebrew hannel with hackmii installer

It's a few steps more but afterwards you have the standart homebrew channel.

Guess this would be the best solution so far...
Although it's highly dangerous.

Would be nice if someone could write down the correct offsets for the different regions of the sysmenu...

BTW
It feels good to be back in the scene ^^

The correct Offsets for all Regions;

Offsets taken from Preloader Hack;
USA v481 = 4AC0
EUR v482 = 4BC0
KOR v486 = 3FBC

Found on my own;
JAP v480 = 3FBC

Note I've only tried this on a US Wii, but It should work the same way with other regions.

Haven't we already established multiple times that IOS250 doesn't get overwritten?

For Zektor methods ( I still haven't done it almost done reading)
I download DOP IOS v8 and I got
hbc_dopios_v8 (FILE)
and
dop_ios_v8.elf

What do I put in my SD Card?

yes updated through Nintendo, there is currently no other way until wanikoko finished his 4.2 upgrader, although hackmii installer wont run on 4.2 as far as i am aware. but the prelaoder thing may work, if not just do the same thing but patch IOS70.

4.2 is now out eh? I won't update that. I need to stay with 4.1.

I have no message regarding the update on the Wii Messege Board. Wii Shop Channel asked me an update. Nintendo Channel and the Internet Channel don't ask me for the update.

Again, I stick it to 4.1 becuase 4.2 is useless for homebrew, the Internet and other stuff.

I haven't seen anything esablished, just wild speculation. My information was, that the highest version number can be overwritten by itself. I think I read it in one of the blogposts on twiizers.
But since technom8t has actually tested it on a Wii that was updatet through Nintendo, I guess that information was wrong.

Ofcourse there is another way. You can jsut manually install IOS70 and SystemMenu4.2.wad.

And the hackmii installer should run after you aptched IOS36. But I can't test it myself at the moment.

The hex editing method is perfect

No worries about the HBC dissapearing now

I am now on a fully 100% functional v4.2U. Good stuff. To recap:

1. DOP-IOSv8. Install IOS56, IOS57, and IOS70 (IOS70 with Trucha)
2. Run wad manager and install hex modified system menu v4.2
3. Enjoy!

Just need a new startpatch now....as I am not such a big preloader fan

Really don't want to mess it up...hasn't anyone used it?

It's weird how Nintendo is secretly working against us.. On their site they are just saying retarded stuff like "there are some behind the scenes enhancements that do not affect any prominently-used features or menus but will improve system performance."

Imagine Nintendo saying:

"This update removes the Homebrew Channel, DVDX, Waninkoko's IOS249 which allows the playing of backups, and much, much more! Update today!"

they lie so much on Nintendo.com ...
