Speaking of Trucha bug restorer - has anyone tested it on 4.2? Also, worst comes to worst, we use bootmii IOS and cboot2 (remember that thing?) to install cIOS as a wad.

IOS202 (MPlayer CE / cIOS USB 2.0) was not blocked by the update.

Weird...they left the only non-piracy IOS, but didn't leave the Homebrew Channel, so you can't use it. My guess is they left it because it wasn't a piracy threat.

What's even more laughable is that even with all these updates, the worst that happens is there'll be a higher demand for mod chips....

Actually, IIRC in my case 202 actually IS Hermes' cIOS on my machine. I'm probably not the only one there.

ANd bootmii saved lots of other wii's lives too... looks like 4.2 consoles will have no bootmii or preloader and nintendo will have to start giving money away to dead wiis

DVDX installs to 202, Hermes installed to 202, and Mplayer_ce cIOS installs to 202. Those are the three...and they all pretty much function the same. Although, I find Hermes version to be the best of the three.

So quick question. My wii is not with me and is with a friend far away right now, if he were to update would I lose the capability of using the backup loader channel I have on my wii, it's the only real homebrew thing I have, I don't even have the homebrew channel. Would I lose that channel/would it still function? I use DVD-Rs for backups if that makes any difference.
