Hacking wii menu 4.0 downgrade without hbc

bannerbomb is apparently been released sometime today to install homebrew channel, dont know about getting a cios and a downgrade done though. we shall see.

I believe the announcement was over at tehskeen or however its spelt that it would be released "today".

As for what it is, from what I can make out you load a modified VC/wiiware game or something which has been moved to your SD card through the wii memory/channel management settings and it causes your wii to start installing the HBC.

So here is the proof that everyone has been wanting,
this has the dol loading code implemented. It only technically works on 3.2
at the time being but its a small fix to get it to work for the other versions (including 3.4 and 4.0).
Comex is a bit busy right now so those versions will follow soon
(like tommorow or the next day).

The exploit is very simple, just put the file on your sd card
(which will be a channel).
Go to the SD channel menu and a dialog will popup,
hit yes and it will load boot.dol fromt he root of the sd card.
It can load any dol so this means you can run homebrew on a wii with ease
if you don't want to fully mod your wii.

The video with that announcement was posted on the 9th so the "tomorrow" in question was, in fact, yesterday. That leaves "the next day" as today. Even then, it sounds like Comex is busy so it might not be today anyway.

so if I install hbc with this I should be able to downgrade and then safely upgrade with firmware upgrader 4.0?
