I am having an issue with the backup launcher.

I have completed a DVD dump of Big Beach Sports onto SD cards and transferred these 3 files to my computer. I then used ImgBurn to combine them into one .iso. I then burnt this to a DVD-R (Verbatim) using ImgBurn but I get an error when I use the Backup launcher to play it.

Should I try it another way or use another program to burn?

***I am not very computer literate so any answer should be worded for a noob.***

I am now currently transferring Mario Kart to my computer so I can burn it. I'll try it the same way and post my results later.

Ever since I started using backup launcher gamma (haven't moved to 002 yet) I haven't been able to boot up GCN games through the disc channel. It just sits there and tries to load, and I have to do a hard reset. If I load it through Gamma, it loads nicely, but doesn't ask for progressive scan (have HDTV) Is there any way to get disc channel back up and running?
Oh, and it works great for regular wii discs, just GC games give me crap.

i think your problem may be using IMG Burn to make the single image - theres a DOS command to do this that works fine

copy /b part1.iso + part2.iso + part3.iso + part4.iso + part5.iso final-name-of-game.iso

obviously you rename the part1.iso and part2.iso to whatever your getting off your SD card and final-name-of-game.iso to the name of the game.

Then try burning with ImgBurn - have you tried the wireless backup ? it saves having to join the parts back up again

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

Yesterday at Night I was using my Wii Playing Wario Land Shake It NTSC-J in my NTSC Wii with the backup loader 0.3 gamma. I played then turn off my Wii and went to sleep. I wake up today and turn on my Wii to play it and I found that The game appeared in the disc channel (is a burned game and my wii doesnt have any modchip) without going to the backup loader. I click on it and... i can play it!! I turn off my Wii and turned it on again and it appeared again in the disc channel. I havent tried other game yet. Can someone tell me what happen.

Before I burned the Iso I changed it's region with WiiFrii 2.3b and patchet it with the IOS Version Patcher made by Waninkoko

Hi,

New here with a wii.. Before even thinking abput all this, I updated my wii
frown.gif

Oh well.

so i understand all the basics. I have 3.4U and it should be ok for everything.

Well except the backup loader.
So ... just a quick question: i have read here:
http://www.wiiguide.co.cc/
under backup loader ...
(retrieve from http://wiinewz.com/forums/wii-hacking-home...ial-files.html)

that the backup loader works under 3.4 ?

Is it the wiigator gamma0.3 or another one ? (and if so, which one ?)

Thanks

you have gone into rebooter mode - if you fully power down your wii and power it back up again (power button for 4 seconds or plug) the game will disappear.
If you start the loader channel and press 1 (or B in some cases) and then select B from the menu , the icon will come back again.

Yeah it will work under 3.4 with the gamma loader , but not as a channel.
WiiPower (thanks for all your hard work) is presently writing a guide on how this is done, though he, and everyone else recommends a downgrade first.

Dont mind guides on other sites - they get them from here and usually re-write them and leave some stuff out.
The original files by Wiigator are posted on my site for public download and i have a how to guide with all the files you will need posted on the same site - the link is in my signature with a simple guide - download it and take a look and get back to me - id recommend downgrading and using starfall for better safety and security.

Why do people post here, "i found xy about backup launhing at z"? I don't get it, all backup launchers were first posted here, and all "solutions" or whatever were first posted here. Everything there is to know about backup launching without modchips comes from this forum.

About the 3.4 guide:
I'm actually not working at it, as the IOS15 to IOS16 contains code from nintendo(at least it looks like code from nintendo). It's only a few kb, but only 1 byte would make it illegal. I want a 100% legal way, but that seems to be impossible for now.

As I said, I'm a noob so I am presuming you are meaning to go to Run in the start menu and type cmd then copy what you had written (changing whatever I needed to). If thats the case it then gives me an error saying "' /b' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".

Also, what is meant by wireless backup? is this wifi? If so I do not have the resources for wifi.

yeah i meant wifi - sorry for the confusion.

For the images to one image - Make sure you have all the files in the root of the C drive and yeah i meant for you to type CMD and get the black window
once you have the black dos window then you need to type :

cd /
COPY /b part1.iso + part2.iso + part3.iso + part4.iso + part5.iso final-name-of-game.iso

The CD / is Change Directory and the / means back to the root of the drive (C in this case)
dont forget to type the copy before the /b above - that should work for you.

In the command window it says 'c:\ Documents and settings\Andrew' so would this be the root folder I should put the files into or just onto the C drive (not in a folder).

*** Dont worry, I just realised it wasn't working as I had spaces in the names of the files***

I will let you know if this works once I can burn it.

***EDIT***
It has come with an error saying not enough disk space. I still have about 17GB free space but it is formatted FAT32 so cant have a single file > 4GB so this is probably why.
Is there are way to have the file saved to my external HDD (E Drive) which is NTFS? I have tried the change directory command (cd e) but it says it cannot find the path specified.

When you type cd / the c:\ Documents and settings\Andrew should change to c:\ and then your in the root.

If your using a very old windows formatted to a FAT profile you wont be able to store files over 4 gigs , so this pay be the issue on that drive.
as ether kindly stated , just type e: and the drive changes to the E: drive - put all the files into the root of that drive and type the same commands

e:
cd /
copy /b part1.iso + part2.iso + part3.iso + part4.iso + part5.iso final-name-of-game.iso

also right click on the E: drive and click properties and check that the drive is an NTFS file system. DONT FORMAT OR YOU LOSE ALL DATA

I have another question (this time one I can't just easily find an answer of):

Which DVD's are the best to use? My Wii is still rather new, it reads normal games just fine. Anyhow, seeing as I probably can't burn Wii-games, my brother burned and brought a few over yesterday (burned on Tayou Yuden DVD's). But all the games get DRE's rarely, or pretty often. Mario Kart worked the best. Sometimes, mostly in menus, it would give a DRE, but I could eject the disc and just put it in again, and it would work fine again. No problems during races whatsoever. Victorious Boxers worked pretty decent, but it gives DRE's more often, and during some parts of the game it ALWAYS gets them and I just can't progress. Resident Evil 4 would continuously get DRE's shortly after starting up a new game, a couple of seconds after you can actually start playing.

Is it just the discs? From what I read, the Tayou Yuden DVD's should work just as well as Verbatim ones (but well, the comments I found were mostly from mod-chip users). Or maybe I missed out on installing a certain program that prevents these kinds of DRE's?

Did you get your DVD-R from a source you can trust? If not it's possible you got some china crap. Update your dvd burner's firmware if possible. At which speed are you burning? If it's 2x or 2.4x, switch to 12x. There are lots of opinions which is the best burning speed, but sure is, if you get problems you need to change it, so why not 12x?

Sorry for taking so long to respond. Anyway... it seemed Mario Kart wasn't working for some reason (well, I used Wiigator V0.3 beta before, then switched to gamma but didn't install the Cios).Dunno if it works now, haven't tested yet. He had burned all 3 games on 4X speed.

He also burned a few new games. Wario Land (4X speed), Boom Blox (8X speed) and Tales of Symponia 2 (16X speed). Out of those 3... they all start up, but... Wario Land crashes in the 1st cutscene (which I can't skip, unfortunately). Boom Blox seems to work fine (although it's pure data, I doubt it has movies). And ToS2 shows the Wii-mote screen, and then the screen turns black and the game just won't load (if I remove the disc it asks to place it back, but when I put it back it's not read).

I probably still need to do some more testing, of course. I'm just hoping the issue was the burning speed, and that everything will work fine once burned at 8X speed.

EDIT: After some more testing, I can say that Boom Blox works almost as good as Mario Kart. After a couple of levels the music will stop, and when I'm done with the level it'll give a DRE. And Mario Kart works like before now.

The games also seem to work a bit longer on the first try. The problem probably has to do with the DVD's used... since the discs are pretty cool when they go in, then start giving DRE's when they heat up a bit, and give DRE's earlier if I try a few times in a row.
