Hacking Wii backup Manager for Windows

Oh no..! I think it froze while i was moving 2 ISOs from my other USB Drive.. Now?

Just noticed something wrong in the Wii USB Ports.. My USB Drive has 2 usb cables one for connection and one for power. I noticed that they need to be inserted in their certain ports otherwise, if vice versa, Wii does not recognize the drive or the drive does not switch on. Anyone noticed that>

strange, ive never seen a usb HDD that uses 1 cable for data and 1 for power but both are usb cables, its either 1 cable thats used for both power and data or the usb cable for data and a mains plug for power

i have i little bug to report. i select 150 games on a wbfs partition to move copy them as .wbfs files on a ntfs. the bug seems to be in the time left. it starts out at 14 hours left. and with each game that completes, ETA goes up about 1 hour. in reality, each game only takes about 2 minutes to converted, so im not complaining at all. its just something to add to your todo list.

ok, another (more annoying) bug.

after the above operation finished in 1hour, 10 minutes, i checked my ntfs drive for the files it had created from my wbfs drive. and i only got 10 wbfs files and 10 txt files. not 150 games. if you need more info for debugging, let me know.

Yeah I just saw one like that this week. There is a special USB to power cable that plug into the USB port on the computer but th eother enbd is hard wired into the drive and it kind of pulls out like a retractable dog lease.

It was strange when I first ran across it too.

Yes the true USB cable need to be interested into Port 0 the one on the bottom if sitting horizontal or the 1 closest to the edge if standing vertical.

It's not a problem with the WII, I believe it is the way Hermes has coded the cios

Hi all.

I've just about finished the debug logging. There should be enough there to help track down these bugs, so I've posted it anyway. By default it's in full debug mode which can be changed from options->log menu.

The phantom transfers are a real pain in the ass. I've no idea why that could happen, so hopefully it shows up in the log. My instincts tell me that it's the Drive>CISO that's failing but I need to narrow it down a little.

If the log still isn't good enough to see what's happening, I can add more to it. Let me know..

here is a log message from the debug version. i opened the program, mounted 2 drives, selected 9 games to copy, told it to copy, and let it do its thing. after it said it was done, it turns out none of them did copy.

This is where it fails, while writing the temp CISO. I'll need to add more debug to this section of the code because I can't tell how much has already been written, how much drive space there is etc.

I do notice this..

Exactly 1 minute, 1 second between errors which suggests that it writes exactly the same amount of data each time before failing (if your drive speed is consistent). Can you check how much free space you have on your D: drive where the temp folder is? I forgot to add a free space check in the Drive to Drive function, so that is the most obvious place to start.

I've got some free time tomorrow morning, so I'll add more detail to the debug log for this.

Can one of you post the log from after you've opened the drive? It should show me if it's actually reading the duplicates from the drive or if the problem's somewhere else. I have a feeling it IS reading them from the drive and other managers just ignore duplicates, which is why they don't show up.

Im trying to get a log but everytime i mount a drive i get an "RichEdit line Insertion Error"

Damn, the RichEdit component has a 64KB limit, depending on your version or Richedit32.dll.

Where are you transferring from/to? It sounds like you're doing drive to drive since it fails half way. Check to see if there's enough space on both, the drive where the temp folder is and the destination drive. It could be that it's failing to write the temp CISO due to lack of space. Just guessing...

well i have a brand-spankin-new hard drive and a plethora of games that do write and this is the end result

i just wasted another century dling the DVD9 version 8 somthin gigs of nothing

2 versions, same result

I discovered a couple of issues...

when i connected 2 drives in WBFS format, and tried to copy 6 games from 1 drive to another, the games seem to have copied, but the entries were blank when i checked the drive and had 0 bytes.

I closed the program and opened again, but it still showed as empty.

Could it be an issue to do with lack of free drive space when unrar'ing a few files?

I also had an issue where i'd tried to refresh my windows explorer drive view from the My computer window, this caused WBM to freeze as windows was polling the drive... no error messages on either event.

Keep up the great work... i have high hopes for this program and love the convenience of the features you have so far.

1. It sounds like the phantom transfer bug I'm working to fix just now. Can you look at the log and see if there's something along the lines of this.. "(WBFSPartition.InternalWriteDisc) Write failed. 0/8388608"

I just had an idea, I post a test exe soon for the phantom transfers..

2. What Windows version? Also, were you copying to the drive at the time? I need to try and reproduce it here...

I can see from the log that the duplicates are definitely on the drive. If you like, I could add code to ignore them, like the other managers do. Have you tried doing an integrity check with WBFS intelligent GUI?

BTW, what app did you use to copy the ISO to WBFS? If it was mine

Can you test this exe with the phantom transfers and also with the duplicate disc entries?

Perhaps it help:
My wwt can dump the data structure of the WBFS and have an integrity check. Connect the WBFS drives and try

wwt -aA dump -lll >wbfs-dump.txt
wwt -aA check -lll >wbfs-check.txt
