Sorry, I can't trust Marcan or Bushing... they've both lied about Waninkoko's work before... and if your wondering what, the Region Changer and Downgrader... they both said it'll 100% brick your system, yet there are hundreds who've downgraded/region changed, and are still playing away...

Don't be so paranoid. They didn't block the WAD manager, they won't block this. And stop ripping on them allready. They are inclined to their opinion just as anybody else.
It's not like they ever made announcements about how they don't like Wininkokos Apps. Just like other users they post in forums, but they are in the unfortunate position that they are somewhat famous and news sites will pick up on their posts.

Prior obligations have prevented me from posting much lately, but I've been checking back on this thread every so often, only for it to appear to have spiraled out onto one big tangent.

In response to anyone with an opinion of Waninkoko, I'll simply leave it at this: If it wasn't him, it would've been someone else. It's hardly fair to demonize him for becoming aware of a flaw in the system and exploiting it, when from day one we've had people profiting from drivechips. The real uproar should be if he decided to put a price on it. Now, let's get back on track, shall we?

It would be nice if we could figure out the depth of this -- whether it's a new exploit or just an elaboration of the DVDx library. Linkinworm, it would be a nice time to chime in.

Seeing your sign-up date, and post count, let me help you out some here... You need to have some proof, or everyone on this board will call you a liar, and want to rape your mom for lying to them. Unlike the US Justice system, on GBATemp, your a lying bastard until you prove your not.

As for my yelling at people that a WiiSoftmod will never exist, I think you might wanna go re-read those posts... Every time I posted about a wii softmod, I've said it's not possible YET. Since every system out there (since the PSx) has been softmodded, it was only a matter of time till the Wii was on that list.

I hate to be a complete dick on this thread, but as you can tell, sometimes it nessicary, and sometimes it's not... I have complete faith that Waninkoko will release this soon, and it will be everything we've hoped for. But I'd rather it be delayed than get it, and brick 99.9% of the systems out there due to a misplaced code.

That being said, I won't be installing this until a week after it's released anyway. I've never done Starfall, cIOS downgrader, or anything other than WADs... and I bless Waninkoko every day for programming a WAD un/installer!

It's a possibility but October is seeming most likely. And yes it will be released publicly of course. And it was earlier today when I talked to him. A modchip is a device that allows you to modify the internals of the system (hence "mod"). There is currently only one of those for the Wii(two if you count USB gecko). The rest are drivechips.

Now that we have that clarified, I don't believe there are any features they have that a softmod can't replicate.

We already have software to handle region encoding, so as long as it does what it says, everyone will be happy.

GC backups are said to not be possible. You can use the sdgecko+sdboot method though. Or the USBGecko+USBBoot method. (Gamecube Homebrew Launcher used)

I would think that the wisest course of action would be for the person who has the "leaked beta" to open it with a hex editor himself, rather than spreading the leak and exacerbating what is already a terrible situation. Spreading the leak out would damn the project all the faster.

Um, not saying where it was leaked, for the reasons the above poster said. I'm not using this, myself. It's BETA for a reason.
And well, it has Wanikoko's name and all on the .dol, with instructions.
Other people from the place I got it from also reported successes.
Not in torrents, btw, or any provate site, for that matter. It will be spread soon eough, but not by my hand.
EDIT: The ISO converter wad is hosted on win's site so at least that is 100% confirmed to be legit
