Homebrew Widescreen with TWiLight Menu++

I am using a New Nintendo 3DS XL with Luma 3DS. I installed TWiLight Menu++ and I have set that I want to use widescreen in the option menu. If I play games like Pokemon Soul Silver the game does not scale up. I see two black bands on the left and right of the screen.How can I solve this?

Are the ROMs modified?

How can check that? They are .NDS files.

You need to set up your console for this. There is a tutorial on github how to do this. Google "twilight menu widescreen" and it should be the first link.
