So since I bought my GW I have used only CIA's as using headers seems like a pain and I am wondering why do people bother with them, why not just buy a 16/32 GB sd and just use cias?
Because I don't want to convert my legit dumps to CIA and install them?So since I bought my GW I have used only CIA's as using headers seems like a pain and I am wondering why do people bother with them, why not just buy a 16/32 GB sd and just use cias?

I think Roms are just more convenient. Drop them on your SD-card and you're good to go. Installing sometime seems to take forever. And the headers. Nintendo could ban us for CIA-usage too. ticket.db-validation.I guess for legit dumps you could use the card but for people who don't do that cia's are just as easy to find.
I consider CIA better, as they make the battery last quite longer, specially when you suspend the 3DS.
You just enter Gateway mode / emunand, take the GW out of the 3DS, and forget about it.
2 x Battery life (where 2 is more likely something around 1.3, but anyway, more battery life)

I'm sure that using 3dz with a private header is much much much much much much much much much much much much safer than using CIAs online. It's only a matter of 'when' Nintendo decide to ban pirated CIAs, not 'how'.
It's probably quite possible for them to detect running an emunand, but spotting that someone is running a CIA on a console with no purchase record for that title, or worse yet a CIA of a game that has never been available on the eShop would be so easy to spot it's not even funny.
