Gaming why didnt this work?

i was trying to buy minecraft today (i had been using my friends account previously) and i was told i can use a visa gift card, so i assumed i should go to "pay with credit card" and i put in all my data and it won't let me go through with the purchase... what do i do (i have enough money on the card to buy it)

Most likely the problem is that it's an international purchase.
Create a PayPal account and use the card that way.
