The difference between Japanese voices and English dubs in games (and IMO the reason why English dubs are usually all around shit), is because people expect to hear the ridiculous "anime-ized" voices. Greatly exaggerated tones and voices, and phrases that normally are not used in day to day Japanese.
You try to apply that same theme with English voices, it's going to sound rough and forced. That's not a part of Western culture.
Me personally, I couldn't give a fraction of a fuck less. Subbed, dubbed, I'll take it, unless it's a game or Anime with voice acting that makes my ears bleed like Enchanted Arms (OH GOD MAKE IT STOP!)
