Hacking while trying to change wii from E to U, bricked.

No, seriously, even if you manage to save your Wii, don't try to change the region again. Even with a tutorial. Like someone said in the first page, just use any loader and Priiloader to run any games, retail or not, with disk channel or not. Way more secure. And for the black & white thing, it happens only when you try to run a NTSC game on a PAL monitor. But I'm pretty sure that all loaders can force PAL mode. Or the other solution is to have a NTSC monitor (most of the flatscreens are PAL and NTSC compatible, so if you have a flatscreen, it should not be a problem)

Wut... I've used Priiloader's Region Free everytime I wanted to play a NTSC game or a NTSC wad and it did not bug.

1 .By 4.3U, i mean your region didnt been changed, but your system menu is. Therefore you bricked.
2. Downgrading IOS36 is useless. Just install IOS236 if you dont have it and it should be fine.
3. Fellow this tutorial next time. It will help you.

There's another way to fix your brick, using very long Copper Wire, around 2-3 300K Resistors and a spare usb drive, but you'll have to first check if your wii is still able to read discs ( put a discs into your wii, boot and listen )

edit, btw, this is a PAL wii trying to convert to ntsc.
I changed stuff in anyregionchanger from PAL settings to NTSC settings and got colors on my standard TV. the problem was when i tryed to install system menu 4.3U i got an error in dop-mii ...-102 i believe, so i went back into ARC and changed the settings back to PAL, color went black and white again.

since trying to install 4.3u gave an immediate error, i dont know if what your saying is accurate. It may be though, i dont have my facts straight.

There's absolutely no reason whatsoever to change a Wii's region - PriiLoader's Region Free patch works without fail and when it does it, it points at something else being faulty. I've never come across a single instance when it didn't work as intended. Similarly loading games from different regions works fine in USB loaders, the only problems I've come across were related to the display mode and that can be forced to a particular setting.

Anyways, the owner of the wii is insisting he wants to have a 4.3U wii for his child, doesnt want any kind of loaders or anything. Can anyone help me out? ive got,

in ARC change shop to code 49, region to NTSC.

what im missing is the way to uninstall current 4.3E and install 4.3U.

YAWM says it wont uninstall a system menu, dop mii errored out

It does seem like European TVs really were that superior in the 90s. Your 50/60hz support and RGB, vs our fuzzy composite on a worse color system.
I could be missing something...

The region-free patch works just fine, if the issue is playing NTSC games on an European Wii, this is what you should do. This isn't a matter up for discussion - you will run into issues again.

lol, read this too late. i bricked it again.

i know now why it was bricked. its because of trying to downgrade ios36. i did it again. wtf though, i installed priiloader this time, and it wont load. we're on our way to taking this wii apart again.

i KNOW you cant downgrade ios36, but guides say for LU64+. and this is a KEM10xxxxxx.

i was messing around with it again because in a ARC mod, i changed region to USA, it was working, but everytime i went to settings, banner brick was up.

trial and error. time away from the wii scene has taken its toll on me. At least now i feel buffed that we fixed it with infectus once.

The priiloader not working anymore caught me offguard though. did not know that would happen, anyways, this time i didnt even touch system menu.

EDIT: down here in nicaragua, not everyone has newer generation TVs. alot of ppl are still on old standard tvs. So when u load the wii up, its black and white. Whatever, i would be happy and just change regions with wiiflow or whatever loader u got, but this guys crying that he doesnt want no loaders, that he has plenty of games.

btw, priiloader DID make the wii recognize the NTSC discs, but loaded them up in black and white too.

Absolutely nothing, literally f***-all. Technically they have access to different WiiShop, but that doesn't matter, really. The only real differences are the region code and the default display options - an E and a U Wii are perfectly capable of launching the exact same games.

oh yeah! on MY tv, it loads black and white.
On HIS though, he gets no video. Only way for him to use is wii is autobooting priiloader then going into homebrew channel, etc.

If it displays video in grayscale then the TV is incapable of displaying PAL signal or NTSC signal - whatever is the opposite in your region. The TV may or may not have a switch for that (mine does). Does this happen only to video games or to the actual menu? If it only happens with games, you can use PriiLoader's Force Disc Region system patch to correct that.

If the menu doesn't work as it's supposed to as well, it will require some more in-depth modding, but definitely not experimentation, unless you feel like re-flashing it each time. You'll have to post your Wii's serial number (incomplete, just the relevant parts to determine its guts) as well as a SysCheck report.

The closest ive gotten , on this wii, is not touching system menu, but in ARC mod, changing the region to E, system menu outputs color correctly, but ends up in a banner brick (cant access wii settings). Had to change it back to E.

It's entirely possible that we'll have to nuke the Wii and virginize it before proceeding, but if you really have to change the region, it can be done - it's not one of those Korean Wii's posing as a different region, I don't think that was ever an issue on European Wii's.

alright, infectus is about halfway through. This is a spain wii. wiishop Code = 105.
but, this wii practically is virgen. The nand backup was taken ONLY with HBC installed, and bootmii installed as IOS. Nothing else was done at the time the backup was made.
btw, do you know why did priiloader stop working? when i installed it, it said it ways using ios 58, not 36
