I noticed most people prefer NSP over XCI file and why ?

I prefer XCI and I don't mind NSP (eShop) if it is not available for physical version only.

NSP, of course. All the games are immediately accessible from the home menu, and can be conveniently deleted (archived) from the settings. It's also super convenient installing games over wifi although it's kind of slow.
I'm using Atmosphere now, but I do have a SX OS license, I never used the XCI feature though.

XCI 100% if you have SXOS. You can load them right up and you can install them like NPS too. So there is no need for NPS at all if you have SXOS.

I prefer XCI because I am using SX OS and I find it easier:
- If you are going to delete a game you just need to delete the XCI file, not from the system too.
- No waiting for game installs.
- It becomes even faster when you install a sysmod made by TX which automatically starts the game when you click it in the home menu - no need to go to album. Nearly as fast as a normal app.
But, there isn't that much of a difference between NSPs and XCIs.

You can install it with atmosphere if you use yati and it works for me so no needed for SXOS.

nsz definetly seamless experience no need to mount
? But you need to install it as nsp, isn't it?

xci are really good to play games without taking time to install it..
but you need an sx os licence to use it. waiting for another loader in the future maybe

Well I mean obviously Atmosphere users will say nsp for obvious reasons, But as an sxos user you'll be more comfortable with xci plus its gives the sxos a purpose to use its main functions. Coming from the ps3/ps4 scene having a library of games on the ex hdd is a must for me, so xci fits the bill there.

No, not really.. You can install XCI on atmosphere. I am using the tool called yati but It was no longer in development anymore because of tinfoil but it works great for me.

thing is installing xci is no different than an nsp and it doesn't give any advantages on atmosphere. Now if you use both sxos/atmo then I can see why you would install xci on atmo.

I understand your point but I am going with XCI because I like physical things, lol. I only installed NSP if it is only for eShop and not for physical card.

@azoreseuropa
You are a rare one from the bunch considering that you don't have SXOS which is the main benefit of having XCI (IMO) I guess people like XCI more because they can mount them and play them via external HD. For me personally as long as my game play I don't mind but if I have to lean towards one it would probably be NSP

Having tried XCI using SX OS I still prefer NSP/Z. I converted all my cartridge games to them as well for performance / battery reasons. XCI emulation seems to impact both in a negative way. I'd rather have a bit more hassle (installing) over performance and battery improvements.
Also the 'hassle' is really nothing anymore since installing can be done over network where all my dumps are on a NAS so removing / installing a game is done very easily. Also since the NSZ format is out it is the superior storage format: no data loss and less data use. In my opinion there is no reason to go for XCI unless you find installing NSP's really troublesome.

I use both but i prefer xci.

Nsp has to be installed, xci is like a portable installation, no contest.
No installing means less risk of curruption.

I can put, delete and put again xcis on the sd card, its like a mp3 repository, you carry what you want now, no hassles.
Xci as an cartridge image is the ultimate practical & clean format.

I'm always thought that XCI's were better than NSP's due to the fact I could still play my original games on the Official Firmware with fewer risks. Problem is, I can't find that many XCI's websites, all I have is NSP's..
