I've decided to follow ModMii's guide using the sysCheck report that i got from my own Wii... as far as i can see, this is a safe way to update everything on my Wii (47 files are outdated) but i have a question... I have the NSMBW disc that came bundled with the console. After installing all that, will my Wii ask for an update if i try to run NSMBW through the Disc Channel if i don't apply Priiloader's "Block Disc Updates" hack?

because NSMBW includes stub IOSs for common cIOS slots like 249 and 250. You currently should have cIOSs in those slots with version #'s of 21007, but the stubs are version number "65280" so the game thinks they need to be updated. The version #s of the cIOSs themselves could be increased, but not much point when there's that priiloader hack

IOS60 can actually run ANY system menu ever released for the Wii so far. In fact, if you have an LU64+ Wii and try downgrading to 3.2 using the standard IOS30 (non-stubbed) you will brick, but if you have IOS60 installed to the SM IOS slot (ie. IOS30) then it's perfectly safe. I'm not recommending anyone downgrade, but I thought the info would interest you.

On the subject of IOS60... i did a syscheck on my console and then through ModMii's syscheck update wizard, I got told that I needed to install IOSes 11, 20, 30, 40, 50, 52, 60, 70 & 80 which all have IOS60 as a base.

Is there any reason, as to why this is needed? :/

just extra brick protection. If any noobs decide to install a 3.2 system menu on a LU64+ Wii, having IOS60 installed to slot 30 will save them from bricking

Also, having that specific IOS installed as your SM IOS will offer extra brick protection (ie. capable of autobooting backup discs from recovery menu if the dvd-drive is capable or something like that)

Not just any backup disc, but certain recovery ones, yes.

With cMIOS installed, it also means you can play GC backups from the disc channel, again assuming you are able to play backup discs.
