Ive read through almost every forum and thread and im noone the wiser as to what flashcart to get..It seems that most are wrought with problems and im being put off by thread with problem after problem with these..I just want to know of a reputable seller(preferablly in the UK but i dont mind buy from China as they seem to be a fraction of the UK market price)) and im either looking for an acekard 2i or r4..

    Thanks

If you want a UK seller that is a good seller, and that offers easy support because of being in the UK BUT has high prices go for xpertron.

If you want cheap and helpful, but slow, support then go for lightake.com - sells a lot of stuff, not all great, but great with prices and flashcarts.

zhuzhuchina is also another Chinese company that sells flash carts for cheaps.

The best possible flash cart is the SuperCard DSTWO - no fakes or replicas, lots of features.

If you want something a bit cheaper but good value for money, then go for the Acekard 2i. Xpertron, lightake and zhuzhuchina are all official sellers and are legit so no worries (even if there are quite a few Acekard fakes flying around)

A good topic to consult can be found at http://gbatemp.net/topic/290097-which-flash-cart-should-i-get/

Thanks for the help and the links...im not worried about waiting if im getting the goods for half to less tan UK price...

Acekard2i.. Supercard DSTWO,am i right in thinking these dont flash the DS just bypass the boot process? So theres no modification to the DS? I notice the R4 is dirt cheap http://www.zhuzhuchina.com/store/dsi_r4i_3ds_sdhc_slot-1_flashcard_type_b__www_r4i-sdhc_com__for_dsi_xl_3ds.html Does this flash the DS?? Im asking as i have 4 units and wonder if the cards can be used on each one withouht having to modify anything on the DS system or do i have to buy one card for every DS?

    Thanks

None of these cards flash the DS, but the R4 isn't as reliable as the other two. There's a high chance that you might be shipped a clone or a fake. I'd stick with an Acekard or the DSTwo.

Thanks..I wanted to get the Acekard2i but read a thread on it not fitting the DS unit properly and therefore not working in some cases and having to use the "Paper trick" .....One last question..what is "Bricking"? Ive seen it mentioned...Im guessing as long at the DS are not updated on the internet the cards will always work..

Think i have plenty off info to get on with

Thanks muchly for all the help

If you're using a DS Lite, it fits perfectly.
If you're using a DSi, it fits perfectly.
If you're using a DSiXL, it fits perfectly.
If you're using a 3DS, it fits perfectly. Tested them all. If you want to save money and get a reliable flashcart, get the Acekard 2i.

I've never had to use the paper trick.

It should always fit, the paper trick is used when the PCB that holds the contacts flexes slightly, and the contacts of the AceKard2i can't 100% come in contact with the ones in your DS system. If you stick a small piece of paper behind the contacts in the card, it pushes them out ever so slightly, but just enough to resolve almost all contact issues (which would involve freezing during gameplay, freezing while booting the card, system not recognizing the card, and some others).

As far as cards that "don't fit", the only ones I've seen are ones with a window for an extra chip sticking through. My old iTouchDS RTS did it, but that card sucks and is 100% irrelevant... however, the Supercard DSTWO does it also, as the extra on-board CPU does stick through a window slightly. All this means for you is that the card is a bit harder to insert and take out. I've had my DSTWO for well over a year now, taken it out and inserted it many times, and nothing is damaged, card or DS wise.

I will warn you, if you're using any of these (or even original DS carts) on a 3DS, make sure you insert them straight and not at an angle, I've heard a few reports of the pins catching on the teeth and bending in the 3DS when the card isn't going in straight enough.

Edit - and the AceKard2i is a good card. I got one for my little brother for christmas, and I love it. The new ones don't have any chip sticking through a window, so they fit just like an original cart.

I also bought an Acekard 2i and found it having no size issues with my DS Phat or my 3DS. Fits perfectly.

    Same goes for my DSTWO.

Thanks for all the great advice so far.....thought id ask again....As far as buying one of these cards..im refusing to buy one from a UK distributor as they are asking 3 times the price of one from The US Or Asia...Rip off Britain!..Im not bothered with the wait..I need some adviced on a retailer i can buy from that has good feedback..I was going to get from a store(asia) i see on these forums..but when i got to fill out my order it was asking for A 6 dollar shipping fee when the site said(with an eye catching header banner) shiping was free..Also it will have to be a store that acceps Visa..not paypal which has stumped me with lightake as they only accept Paypal!Im waiting on an email from the supplier to clear this up..But ..yes in the meantime maybe i can get a few links to stores where people have bought where i can get an Acekard and R4,s

    Thanks

Free shipping from china can take three weeks, seriously.

Also flash carts are of questionable legality in many places, so many credit companies and banks won't directly deal with the sites that sell them.
