if you want a decent flashcart that 100% compatible with games almost, get the supercard ds two. with that you get sdhc up to 32gb as well.
if you really want an r4 ( trust me you don't, not when the ds2 can even emulate the r4) then get it from shoptemp.the way your garunted a scale clone that works with wood.

you have three choices for carts that have proper support/updates.
[*]the original r4.
not "r4-iii upgrade", not "r4-sdhc", not "r4i", not "r4 gold", not "r4 red", not "r4 king"...
not anything else with "r4" in the name! just "r4 revolution".
  • price: $6 from shoptemp.com
  • advantages: can use wood r4, giving it compatibility with modern games.
  • disadvantages: no dsi support, limited to memory cards 2gb and lower, no special features.
  • rank: the cheap card for somebody that just wants to play some games on a ds/lite.
[*]acekard 2i
  • price: $15 from shoptemp.com
  • advantages: can use akaio, giving it compatibility with modern games. can update itself and cheats over wifi, supports the dsi/xl, and supports memory cards up to 32gb.
  • disadvantages: can't do any of the special stuff the dstwo can.
  • rank: mid-range card for people that want to play lots of games on a dsi/xl with some extra features.
[*]supercard dstwo
  • price: $35 from shoptemp.com
  • advantages: supports the dsi/xl, can update itself even if the dsi won't run it, supports memory cards up to 32gb, real-time save (save states), in-game guide (show text and images from walkthroughs without having to reset the game), "free cheat" which lets you modify memory while the game is running, gba and snes emulator, slow motion, and more.
  • disadvantages: the most expensive card.
  • rank: pretty much the ultimate card right now.

I think Shoptemp says 2~5 weeks for delivery, but most people get it in a little over a week.
Don't go for the 3~5 day shipping option, you'll get it just as fast with normal shipping.

As far as I know, I trust Shoptemp.com more than any other site. They're delivery says 2-5 weeks, but that's what everybody says. When I ordered my Acekard, it was like a week and a half.

Get a DSTWO if you have the money, if not, get the Acekard 2i. Those two are basically the best cards on the market. DSTWO is taking everybody by storm with.. well everything. Here, supplied you the links below:

Supercard DSTWO @ www.shoptemp.com

Acekard 2i @ www.shoptemp.com

Or if you want an R4...

I'll be honest, I'd appreciate it if you use the link I gave you
smile.gif
They have a referral program where people get's 5% of the purchase
smile.gif
It's only 1.75 or something for me, but every little bit helps
smile.gif

Also, DSTWOs sell out fast, I know they just recently got a shipment in. So you want to act fast.

No problem. It will definitely be worth every penny you spend on it. I'm assuming you already have a MicroSD card with your R4, so you could just use that

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
