I have a Wii and will sell it to buy a WiiU because I can play Bayonetta 2, Zelda BotW and MK8 on it. Also there is almost complete Nintendo library available for WiiU, so my choice is obvious. Also I have 3DS so unless I sell it I won't be getting Switch very soon, simply no need to. I wanna see much more games available for Switch, maybe new Zelda after BotW, then I will consider getting one.

I had the money and opportunity to buy a Switch on release but with it's abismal launch title setup made me choose to not go for it. I personally will get one during the holidays with Skyrim, Splatoon and Mario.

What made you buy/ not buy a Switch?
I am really interested in other people's perspective.

Comments and inquiries are appreciated.

i fully agree with you on the abysmal lineup.
there's only zelda, and since i already got it on the wii u (free from uncle Reggie).

i didn't buy it for my switch ,reason for me as to why i wanted one is because i would have bought one later on anyway , mainly for smt and the new tales game and also because it's a Nintendo system, i love Nintendo.

so yeah I'm glad i bought one on launch day, as they sold out pretty quick.

4 weeks ago, I suppose.

But seriously, it's already been worth it for me. I have a combined 2 hour commute on the train every day for work so I use it daily. I've bought Zelda, FastRMX, Master Blaster Zero, Snake Pass and Graceful Explosion Machine already with Wonder Boy due this week and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at the end of the month. Fun times.
nice games!!
how is that snake pass game ? i looked up wonder boy and it looks really fun.

i can get snake pass these days but now that I've seen wonder boy i may wait , do you think snake pass is better ? since you already have it.

As someone who collects and plays video games like it's a religion of course I was buying one. Glad I did Zelda made it worth it and having a blast with the wife on Lego city and soon mk8

Hard to say. Snake Pass is great. I suspect Snake Pass might be the better purchase - it's a modern game using Unreal Engine 4 so makes use of the Switch hardware, whereas Wonder Boy is a remake of an old Master System game so might be less appealing if you're not familiar with the original. Get both if you can.

i looked up graceful explosion machine, and it looks awesome, i think I'll try to get that one for now.
and snake pass/wonder boy later on.

Probably far later, if there is more good exclusives games than the Wii U (The Wii U exclusive games numbers was a big let down personally)

I just bought a PS4 (though my main system for gaming is a PC) and it's released since a bit more than three years ago so it'll be probably the same for the switch, if I decide to buy one (I have a Wii U so if I want to play the new Zelda, it's not a problem at all).

Snake Pass is better than Graceful Explosion Machine. Graceful Explosion Machine is great, but it's a one-trick pony. You've seen everything the game has to offer within a few stages.

Snake Pass can be frustrating, but it's unique and interesting.

I don't want to brag, but can't you get a job? I'm 17 and I make 250$ a month with stocking shelves since I was 15. It's a pretty good opportunity for working experience and you make CASH MONEY!

I have a job as a software developer in a local company. I earn only around USD$400 dollars a month, working 9 hours a day, 6 days a week.

The Switch here costs around USD$480, so I need a full month of work and a bit more. I could save money up, but again, I have a family and can't save up that much per month. Maybe $10 or $20 dollars per month, butnot more than that. So I would get it in 24 to 48 months, depending on how much I save up per month. That's 2 to 4 years from now.

Holy shit, you are being used like a cardboard cupholder, get away from that toxic place. I only work 8 hours a week. Where do you live because that is not even minimum pay.

My threshold will require a few checked off the list, no single one would do it.

  • A hardware revision
  • 3rd party support. releasing the same AAA titles that are on XBONE & PS4.
  • VR support, a VR cradle seems like it should of been a given.
  • Substantive price drop
  • And if it only ends up being a new Metroid & Zelda box, when I can get it dirt cheap used/refurb.

Currently I see zero reasons to own one including announced titles, any experience it offers for me at the moment or has announced I can get better and cheaper.

Was going to get one until they announced pay-2-play online. Automatic deal-breaker. I skipped all XBOXs and PS4 strictly for that reason.
If they get rid of that and come out with more games, I'll consider it.

I don't know if I'll ever get it. Time will tell. I didn't get it beause I never get a console at launch anymore and games were nothing I cared to play, besides BotW, which is on the Wii U too.

You skipped a console because you have to pay $60 a year for online...? ok.
I don't like being ripped off if I can help it. The fact remains that most online gaming is either peer-to-peer or has you connecting to the actual game company's servers for like 2 seconds to sync a match and requires nothing from Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft. You are giving money to people who aren't earning it.

It's not even about the fee for a lot of people, we don't want to be part of their walled garden and deal with their petty impositions or subject to when they decide to yank the servers.

They are providing "support" where none is needed as it is P2P, then charging you a fee to mandate to you. Fuck that. Multiplayer was superior before asshole corporations decided to monetize it.

Real service/features/product = I'll pay for it.

Blocking a hardware feature, funneling through your server so you can charge a fee = Fuck you.

There "service" is about as needed as much as a store clerk needs Mafia protection.

Yeah i'd rather be in their "walled garden" then play with hackers left right and center on PC.

So goodluck.
