The problem being there just isn't that many rpgs on the N64 to choose from. But for me I highly recommend Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber

You have very, very few to choose from. If emulation counts then you have Pokemon and some NES games (from memory, audio is unsupported and mapper support is poor too). There might be some homebrew RPGs which I don't know of. It's a long shot and not worth the effort but if you want a good Nintendo 64 RPG which is not Paper Mario or Ogre Battle then you should make your own homebrew RPG similar to how Pier Solar is a recent Mega Drive/Genesis RPG.

Your best option is to play RPGs on a different platform.

I don't know about best, but I like Wonder Project J2. I think it was never localized because of not localizing Wonder Project J1, and maybe the lack of 3D. I grew up playing Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures, so this was a natural fit.

Quest 64 comes to mind but I understand that ain't what you're after, so maybe Pokémon stadium 1 and 2 (I know this is a bit of a stretch lol) or Ogre Battle 64? (as already mentioned)

Earthbound 64 is a pretty good one I hear. You'd need a N64 DD to play it though.

After Paper Mario, my favorite RPG is Aydin Chronicles, even though it's hated by many, I love it. Then I would place Shiren the Wanderer. I never liked Quest 64. Custom Robo games are also good, if you count them as RPGs.

I think only the first of the three came out in the west so that is probably why you didn't know of the other two.
