i just wanted to know if the download size of dark souls 2 pc will be around 8gb or 14gb.

Nope. The PC version has higher resolution textures as well as various other additions to increase the performance of the game. From Software didn't dick around with this port, luckily.

i preloaded the game and it was 8.2gb

Yeah, that's the packaged size. Once it's unpacked on release, it should expand to ~ 14GB.

It depends on the game.

Right now I think everything is just encrypted and compressed, so if there is anything else to download on the release date the file sizes should be small.

Durante, the guy who did the DSFix mod, was given access to the Dark Souls II Steam release a few weeks back. He had said the files came out to just about over 10GB, I think. He might have been talking about the packed texture sizes, as he said PS3 had the file at about 5GB.

Extremely large is something like Mortal Online (sat around 40gb near launch, no idea now). 10-15gb is piddly.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I formulated that post in my head. For all intents and purposes, it can be ignored.

(Bioshock Infinite is currently perched atop my list at 17GB )

I remember the days when people said 600MB was absurdly large for a game install. That game was Atomic Bomberman. And hard drives were only up to 20GB those days.

Try restarting steam :o

Also, my steam size is 11.6GB.

It's unpacking the game now, that's why it says "Disk busy". If you look under the Play button, you'll see a bar slowly filling up. That's the progress of the unpacking.
