oh i thought it would be 8gb like the consoleversions.
Nope. The PC version has higher resolution textures as well as various other additions to increase the performance of the game. From Software didn't dick around with this port, luckily.
i preloaded the game and it was 8.2gb
Yeah, that's the packaged size. Once it's unpacked on release, it should expand to ~ 14GB.
so doesthat means i have more downloading to do after i preloaded it? I am new to steam new i don't know how preloading works
It depends on the game.
Right now I think everything is just encrypted and compressed, so if there is anything else to download on the release date the file sizes should be small.
Durante, the guy who did the DSFix mod, was given access to the Dark Souls II Steam release a few weeks back. He had said the files came out to just about over 10GB, I think. He might have been talking about the packed texture sizes, as he said PS3 had the file at about 5GB.
EXTREMELY LARGE, give or take a few.
Extremely large is something like Mortal Online (sat around 40gb near launch, no idea now). 10-15gb is piddly.
at least steam is releasing it a day earlier than what it said.
14 GB isn't large at all, there are even MMO games that are bigger than that( TERA-30GB )
To be honest, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I formulated that post in my head. For all intents and purposes, it can be ignored.
(Bioshock Infinite is currently perched atop my list at 17GB )
I remember the days when people said 600MB was absurdly large for a game install. That game was Atomic Bomberman. And hard drives were only up to 20GB those days.
Oh how far we have come.
Dude that one took a while to download.
i am having issues now after preloading the game i have .2gb but the word next to the red dots says disk busy and the download is at 0 it is frustrating me
Try restarting steam :o
Also, my steam size is 11.6GB.
i did that multiple times
It's unpacking the game now, that's why it says "Disk busy". If you look under the Play button, you'll see a bar slowly filling up. That's the progress of the unpacking.
