As an unrelated section of a post I linked up an old cartoon of my youth (I suppose I was technically in high school) and watching it right now it is nuts so I thought I would do a thread to drag up similar cartoons. It might also serve to explain a few references some of the greater than 25 year old UK types make around here for some as things have been getting pretty obtuse these last few months. Also the EOF could do with being a bit more amusing.
The one that kicked it off
Hairy Jeremy - The Big Fight

Clangers - The Intruder
Pretty sure I heard a rap song the other day that sampled this

Oakie Doke
Not really the same calibre as the others mentioned in this post but up there.

It is not all about UK cartoons either and I am actually quite curious to see what happened in Australia/NZ- as any child of the pre sky days I was stuck with whatever the BBC could score cheap which means although I can probably provide an entire plot synopsis from memory from Round the Twist I was never subject to cartoons made there. An example of a non UK one would probably have to be Antoshka

Betty Boop - Minnie the Moocher
The USA could get in on the action but I would have to go quite far back to do it justice

Poddington peas - the amount of pea puns in the opening credits alone should instantly endear it to many on this site.

Penny Crayon

I deliberately left loads out including many earlier ones and I am not sure where Morph* fits so add some more and let us make it happen. I will have to see if I can find some of the "educational" stuff as that would be a goldmine as well.

*protip- it would be extraordinarily ill advised to say anything bad about Tony Hart in the thread if it plays out the way I think it will.

Back when I was a kid, I loved a show called street sharks. Yes, sharks on the street wearing jeans, fighting bad guys.

Oh Gawd, it's more awful than I remember.

Ah cartoons. Some of them were just completely and totally insane in nature. And some are loads better then some of the things today that are now considered cartoons. (Adventure time is an awesome cartoon though...)
I remember trying to show my little brothers Gumby, and they looked at me like I was totally insane for liking it.

Some interesting suggestions.... although I adored Dexter's Lab (seriously how did Cartoon Network let Genndy Tartakovsky go somewhere else?) I am not quite sure it goes up alongside these

Morph
I know I said I probably would not include it but I figured people would want to know the earlier works of Aardman Animations.

The Trap Door
I imagine most people just know the theme tune

Yes Rocko's Modern life belongs on this list, it was notorious for being a cartoon with many adult humor themes in it.
Between a doctor named Bendova, A restraunt called chokey chickens, an episode deleted because of sexual seduction, and an episode where a cow is getting milked and acts as if somthing REALLY bad is occuring.
Yes it belongs on this list :P

If we are stretching past cartoons aimed at kids then I had probably better link

Stressed Eric

Rex the runt

Getting back on topic though
Captain Pugwash
This is probably better known for the urban legend about the names but read up on that elsewhere.

Bananaman

I will have to refocus... I think most of the recent ones I have posted are more about awesome theme tunes than any actual suspect writing aids.

Yay double post but it seems Estonia provides the next entry in the list and what an entry.

An early 80's animated version of one of their national folk tales Suur Toll/Toell the Great

Estonia is probably the part of Europe I know of the least of the folk tales for but if it is even largely as awesome as that I have been seriously missing out.

Would almost be worth trying to license it for US distribution just to watch the reaction of the hardcore God squad.

My mom freaked out at a couple portions of this full length animated movie

Wizards (1977)

Pretty sure they wouldn't or couldn't make something like this today (and get it widely distributed through any major film company)

Can't link to the "Full Version" (on youtube) due to animated nudity and sexual innuendo.

But I can show you one of the most popular clips.

Well worth seeing.
