Hacking What version firmware is a new Wii?

My brother may buy a new Wii for Christmas.
I'm not sure what version firmware a new Wii comes with..
Will it be hackable/softmod-able?

If you are talking about Wii, will be a 4.3.. but you will mod without problems.

If you are talking about WiiU, you must wait a little. =)

I assume you mean the System Menu version, which isn't firmware. I don't know why people call it that. But they come with 4.3, like actar said.

This will be a regular, old-timey Wii.. Good to hear it is still modable, I'll look for the 4.3 guide..

Now, I may get a Wii-U for my own family (3 kids), but we're undecided.. We already have a Wii and Xbox and 3DS's..

ANOTHER game system, arg..

We may wait until next year and see how it does.. My kids play enough games already!

Do note that the newer, cheaper Wii models lack GC support.
