I was thinking about adding more memory to my 3ds after realizing I didin't have a lot of space on the current card I have (8 GB Micro SD Card.) I was thinking about getting a 32 GB San Disk micro SD card class 10, with an adapter that supports micro SD, micro SDXC, and micro SDHC cards

I took a look & also noticed that the speed of the SD Card might matter, which is why I am asking if it's a good card to buy or not becuase I am confused if it will be compatible with the 3DS & have a decent, or good speed.

At least 64GB SDXC if you are going to play a lot of games. Format the 64GB to fat32 and it will work. 32GB works at first then it gets full quick. (that is your 666th post)

I got two Samsung EVO microSD of 8GB each because I didn't really play many games, so I thought that'd be perfect, but well, it's not. I can have between 2-4 games installed at most (at the moment I have OR, DQVII and another one I don't remember) but it's not enough. If I'd be you, and I will be when I sell my 3 3DS with A9HL, I'd get a 64 or 128GB Samsung EVO (CLASS 10), which come with an SD and microSD USB adapter. It may cost about 40$ (here in Spain, is about 40€).

I will probably edit this post in a while since I'm searching this at the moment.

EDIT: I've been searching information about it, and it seems that the 3DS doesn't work with SDXC (64GB or more microSD cards) unless it's formatted into FAT32, and if you do that, it doesn't seem to work too well (but works, though). Anyone can explain this if it's true or not, please?

In case it's true, just get a 32GB SDHC card and you'll be okay. Unless you install every single game it comes out, I don't think you'll run out of space.

Um yeah... I kind of know what that means, but I think I deserve it anyway after what I did in the Wii hacking scene lol.

Just wanted to ask something else as well, do you actually need a certian speed for it to be compatible, or is any SDXC Card fine?

Also I shouldn't need a lot of memory, I normally don't have the opportunity to get a lot of games, 32 GB should be enough for 8 - 12 games to store on there.

    I have 2 memory card atm :
A 64Gb PNY SD XC class 10 it works really nice with the adapter.
The second is a SanDisk ultra class 10 - 64Gb also.

The SanDisk seems à little faster than the PNY for writing. But both are really nice for backup ...

I don't think you need a certain speed. Here are a few examples:
    SanDisk SDSQUNB-064G-GN3MN > 64GB Class 10 UHS-1 48MBps - 17€. This one will actually work great and it's cheap.
    SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXPA-064G-X46 > 64GB Class 10 UHS U3 WriteSpeed 90MB/s ReadSpeed 95MB/s - 37€

I probably will get the second one if everything works the way I expect, but that's more for people who want to record at 1080p or take FHD pictures.

The 48Mbps is enought for the 3DS the second one is more for video / photo as you tell. Micro SD are really cheap now. I remember buying my first micro SD nearly 50€ it was 2Gb lol

Also forgot to ask this >_>.
So would SDHC cards be the best option, or just a regular SD Card, you said SDXC wouldn't work that great with anything above 64GB

Also another question; What is the max size SD Card a 3DS can handle?

Apparently 2.19 Tb From looking at the parts apparently, but the boot times will get slower the bigger the card

So... What exactly do you mean?
Sorry I just want to make sure I am understanding what your saying, so your saying that from looking at seperate parts/models of 3ds's & cards it can apparently handle 2.14TB of memory?

Yep, but that can't be tested as there is a not large 2.19tb sized micro sd (or sd on the market for that matter) on the market

    SanDisk or, preferably, Samsung EVO.
Samsung's is the literal best I've personally tested and it only costs $10 max more.

I got both and on various different capacities and Samsung's never let me down as opposed to a single case of SanDisk MicroSD card failure.
It also is faster and has superior consistent performance.

SanDisk and Samsung EVO are nearly the same, never got problem with those ( mainly used in phone )

I got SD-XC 64GB from PNY they are nice mine is doing the job as main card since 1 year with emu nand, I never got any problem.
It is probably a little slower than my Samsugn and SanDisk, but it was cheaper when I bought it :rofl2:

After reading something on the internet, it seems that SDXC are faster than SDHC if the device handle USH-I or USH-II, I don't think our 3DS are compatible so it should be the same.
    SD-HC is 2GB to 32Gb
    SD-XC are up to 2TB ...

I would say if your not planning going full digital 16gb would be plenty enough for dlc and alot of games and 16gb cheap as heck, And the game saves on the cartridges not sd card as well.
If you are planning on alot of downloadable games get 32gb.
ALSO if you are about to buy your new 3ds xl check what screen you got.....
nintendo is bring screwy this time around alot of systems have TN screens but also alot have IPS which is MUCH better colors and more expansive so if end up getting a TN you might be able to exchange it and get a IPS.
Unfortantly I had a IPS it was defect exchanged it got a TN in return kinda mad about it but what can i do..

Yeah I know, some guy on EBay kept selling New 3DS XL's, in the box and everything with a top IPS Screen, same price & its new as well (New Factory packaged like a regular retail store would have, not used :P.) I was pretty stoked when I got it in the mail.

I think I payed about $100 more ($199) for one, I kind of forgot though.

Alright so this is puzzling me, can I have the link(s) to where you guys found this information with the SDXC & SDHC speed over 64GB / 32GB? Becuase I am getting more than one awnser that may not be true.

Order a 64GB Samsung Evo Class 10 UHS MicroSD, format to FAT32 with a 32k cluster size, that would be the best in my option, my samsung evo card(now split in two) worked better then my Sandisk
