Personally I think that while there probably are some incredibly skilled pickup artists out there, most people who call themselves pickup artists think they're the fucking best but don't actually know what the fuck they're doing. I've never met a good one myself. The majority who grossly exaggerate their skills are either wannabes who go out and get embarrassing results or people marketing their masterclass, ebooks or whatever else. Some people will spend big money on PUA material.
I only learnt of The Game years later but back when the events described in it were still playing out and the PUA community was underground it probably was easier to go out picking girls up. Nowadays there's a much greater awareness of PUA techniques which leads to girls shutting down anyone who tries them. Near the end of The Game the community became excessively commercialised and the quality of PUA courses dropped as maximising profits became the primary objective.
I don't have the skills to be a pickup artist. Maybe if I went out sarging (not sure if they still use this word) every week I might get lucky once a year but have no hope of succeeding on a weekly or even monthly basis. I advise other people to not try just because joining a widely hated group damages your reputation. Karl Jobst once tried his own PUA startup then years later Billy Mitchell dug up the dead. No idea if he was any good. You don't want to end up in court like Andrew Tate either.
