I searched these forums didn't really find a good answer.

What exactly is ROM trimming besides Making it smaller?

How does it make the ROM smaller
Well it cause any problems (lag, freezing, shut offs, etc)
Well it give me problems loading my saves from before the trimming? (or after?)
and if yes to any of those, Is Trimming worth it?

It makes the ROM smaller by removing junk data from the end.
This junk data is just to pad the romsize to a rounded value (8mb, 16, 32, 64, 128...), when written to a retail card.
It won't cause any problems if it has been trimmed properly.
It won't cause any save issues.
Trimming is always worth it. The only case were you would not want a trimmed rom, is when you need to patch a ROM.

Most people use NDSTokyoTrim.
