There's a flight I'm looking at which has a 90 minute stopover. If things go smoothly that's enough time but I'm worried that the first flight will be rescheduled or delayed then I'll miss the second. Both flights are with the same airline but I don't know if they'll cover for me if they screw up or if I'll have to pay for a new ticket.

In that case I'll probably be fine but won't know for certain unless I actually read their terms and conditions.
If the layover is part of a trip to one destination with planned stops then they will absolutely cover the cost if one of the flights is late - every airline does that
