I have a question:

I formatted my 300GB partition with USB Loader 1.5 on my Wii, my HD was the 1TB Western Digital My Book Essential Edition.
But when I get to the computer, I want to load my games up with WBFS Manager, but WBFS Manager doesn't recognize the drive?
What can I do now?

I have 2 partitions, and have Vista 64bit

?

I fixed this problem by formatting the whole hard disk, and then making the Wii partition first. The Wii partition has to be a primairy partition, else it won't work!

I'm getting a ret=-1 error with my HD on my Wii, this morning it was working fine, now it doesn't anymore

I've fixed this problem by connecting the HD to my PC again, and I updated to the latest version of WBFS Manager.
Then I connected the HD again, and it was recognized by WBFS Manager.
I disconnected it, hooked it up my Wii again and it worked!
Very weird, but it worked

Could I use this harddisk to play movies too on my Wii?
I have a WBFS partition and a normal partitition on my harddrive. Is there any homebrew that supports partitions and sub directories?

Okay, I've found that Geexbox could be the homebrew I'm looking for .
I'll test it out later, I'll let you know guys!

I have luck with a 500 GB Calvary drive (I imagine their 1TB is pretty similar, I have the 1TB, but it is for my computer, the 500GB is with the Wii Neweggs has them all) after I got screw by my 250 GB Buffalo drive

I think this is the 500 GB that I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822101134 You can find a similar 1 TB one too, they look to be using the exact same interface so the 1TB should play nicely with the Wii as well. Not to mention it got eSATA

My Seagate freeagent xtreme (NOT desk) 1TB does not work for me. Tried plugging it in when usb loader (tried different versions) is waiting for the drive.
I've tried to make one huge partition, 932 gb. Then I tried also one small, 20gb. I always get the -1 or usb device not found error. The HD lights up when I power on my Wii.
I've also tried to start the HD when i'm inside HBC and also when the Wii is powered up. Nothing works.
The WBFS manager recognises the parition as WBFS, so that's not the problem.
HELP!

WD Elements Portable WDE1MSBK5000 500 GB

Can anyone confirm that this works without any problems, spindowns etc.?

Need to order one but I would like to make sure that it actually works for the WII as I have no other use for it at the moment.

Thanks in advance

Can someone help? Is any better option for a 1Tbdrive? TY

I have the first one, and it works perfectly.
Loads of people have it on GBAtemp, and they are all very positive about it.
Thank you Satangel, Just to make sure, you are talking about WD mybook. Correct? TY again

No one took my suggestion?

http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Elem...355&sr=8-17

It costs cheaper, plus, it's from WD, 1TB, looks great, and is very durable.

# Heavy, solid build, almost bullet-proof enclosure.
# 8"x4"x1" rectangular prism (these are not exact measurements but I'm confident it's close.
# USB port for data transfer, cable included.
# External power supply.
# Silent run - you can't hear it spinning unless you place it close to your ear.
# Cool - after one night of uninterrupted operation it was barely warmer than room temperature.
# Not a speed demon but I backed up 50GB in something like 20-30 minutes.
# Formatted as FAT32.
# Comes with no software but it was instantly recognized by both Vista and my PS3 (more about that later)
# There is no manual to speak of - and no manual is needed.
# One year warranty.
# 30-day free tech support during the warranty period where the clock starts running after the first call to WD.
# Lacks the (to me annoying) carnival lights that some other drives have these days - only one blue LED, on the back, blinks when read/writes are performed.

That's what I've been using and thus far it has worked flawlessly.
I partitioned900gb for Wii games and 100gb for homebrew and have had no troubles from either side.

Does the Maxtor OneTouch 4 1TB work?

I ask because it isn't on the compatibility list but the 500GB and 750GB versions apparently work.
