i mean, i first heard it was an emunand you to boot in each time you boot the console.
recently i heard it was a cfw you auto boot in when you boot the console.
so what is it exactly?
also, i'd like to know if theres any cfw project currently

Rednand is just a different form of emunand. You are thinking of CFW with the booting part. The way CFW is booted depends on how the delevopers make it.
