it's the vocative form of the second declension masculine noun "animus"

It can be used when directly addressing someone

Meaning heart/spirit, it can be used as a term of endearment

Example sentence "Anime, te amo" that could be translated something like "Darling, I love you"

Animes called ''anime'' MUST be japanese
Stuff like Avatar the last airbender are called otherwise like, in this case, american anime
There are another type of animation that you mustn't confuse with anime called comics.
DON'T DARE CALLING THE SIMPSONS AN ANIME!!!

"anime" is short for "animeshon" which is the japanese spelling of animation

"anime" in japan encompasses everything animated, also from other countries,
while the rest of the world uses the word specifically for japanese animation
