Hacking what hapens if i update my hacked wii (softmodded) from 4.2u 4

i hacked a friends wii and i dont want to brick his wii but he wants it updated he has some wads so if he just deletes the homebrew channel and his wads wil he be safe?????//

Please clarify what you mean by update:

1.Does he want the system menu updated? If so, advise him that staying on 4.2 is fine...there is no need to update to 4.3

2.If he wants some apps updated just grab the new ones and replace the old ones

no it wont be bricked unless the power goes out, but he will not have his softmod any longer.
rule of thumb: if youre doing things with a device that you arent able to do out of the box, never update. and that goes for any system or device EVER

so is there a way to hack a wii 4.3u without deleting any of his stuff and by stuff i mean saved wii game files

his savegames will be fine, but if he has pirated wiiware/vc, or uses burnt discs or usb loaders, they wont work anymore.

if youre going to re-mod it then you will need indiana jones or ssbb retail discs NOT BACKUPS

and if you do update, install a forwarder channel first so you have a backdoor.
