Gamecube, where the Nintendo seal of approval still meant something and you could justify some absurd prices on the games. The Wii had some notable gems, to be sure, but mostly people cried for Gamecube successors, like F-Zero, and some of the best games were rehashed from the GameCube: Resident Evil 4, Zelda, two thirds of the Metroid Prime trilogy...

...Pikmin (with worse controls), Super Paper Mario (which was originally a GC game)...

Why choose? Most Wiis could play GC. And if I can use a Wii I have access to VC too.
Because the discussion is not about the system themselves but each specific library of gameware instead.
Yes, the Wii is GameCube x 2, but the GameCube, by itself, has a better library. But I am a suspect, because I had both consoles.
